We loved the rustic charm of The Roost! From the converted chicken coop exterior to the utilitarian shabby chic 1940's decor, no surprises here, everything was as advertised. Comfortable living space with practical and adequate kitchen, clean linens and towels, lots of windows, no AC or heat, choice of composting toilet or outhouse, great on-demand hot water for the sink & shower. Our Host Buffie was pleasant, friendly and easy to deal with. On the banks of the fabled Battenkill, The Roost is only steps away from great fly fishing! Or perhaps you're looking to enjoy northern New York's beautiful, picturesque rolling mountains ans or tube the Battenkill on a warm afternoon. Does it get any better than this? We don't think so!

We loved our stay at the Roost! Buffie was incredibly helpful and friendly. It's a lovely spot, perfect for folks who don't mind things a little rustic, and in a lovely part of NY state, just over the state line from Vermont. We had a great time canoeing the Battenkill and hiking in the Green Mountains.
