I had a wonderful stay with Umid in Bukhara! His airbnb was in a central location, yet it felt very private and quiet. The room was comfortable, spacious, clean, peaceful, and had a lot of light. The common space was beautiful and offered a chance to meet other travelers. Above all, Umid's hospitality was the highlight. He cooked some amazing breakfast (he's been perfecting a delicious crepe recipe) and he was very proactive about making sure I avoided tourist traps and ate the best food Bukhara had to offer. I've already recommended his place to friends when they visit.

History is replete with examples of extraordinary hospitality offered to travellers on the Silk Road. It was at Umid's heritage home that I was able to experience such hospitality first hand. The house that probably dates back to the 16th century is located in the heart of the old city of Bukhara and is a living museum. Umid is an intelligent, interesting, generous, warm-hearted and attentive host who will go to any length to take care of his guests. He prepares delicious and lavish breakfasts and even undertook the trouble to pack one for me for a 4 am train. This is hands down one of my most memorable travel experiences.

The Airbnb was a 200 year old house and with some of the old architecture intact so it was very charming. It was also pretty conveniently located - just a 3-4 min walk to the main sights in Bukhara. However, the room was a bit cramped and the common area was closed (probably because it was very cold). The breakfast was also not great. Given the price, we'd expected a bit more.

I had an amazing stay at Umid’s. Everything about the place was perfect and just what I was looking for. My favorite part: Aziz’ (Umid’s brother) delicious breakfast! Rahmat Umid and Aziz for being such a great host and for the amazing hospitality. I hope I can return soon Xx.
