Environmental Engineer from the University of Texas at Austin. Retired. My wife and I chose beautiful Costa Rica as the place for our retirement. We have some land and a cabin on the mountains of La flor, 25 minutes away from Paraiso de Cartago. The place has been named ESTACION DESCANSOS. Estacion means Station (like train station) and Descansos means Breaks or rests. Basically this is a place to rest, to enjoy and to renew energies for your to continue on your life path. It is our mission to provide visitors with a natural and peaceful environment that allows them to be in close contact with natures, with their spiritual believes whichever they are and most important to be closer with themselves. Our values are: a) Respect for differences among human beings; b) Reject any type of violence; c) protect our natural resources; d) Total care of our bodies and minds; e) treat and help our brother as we would like us to be treated; and f) enjoy life. It is our vision that visitors leave the Station with a feeling of happiness and with the purpose of coming back. The Station is an ideal place for vacations, meditation, exercise, and relaxation. The view from the deck, will stop your breath for a second. You will be able to see the Cachi Lake as well as the exuberant ridge of mountains in front of you. We grow organic produce that you can pick and cook, we have a botanic garden where you can walk on, or just sit down and listen to the birds, also there is a kiosk for you to meditate, do Yoga, Tai Chi, read, take a nap in a hammock, and so on. The Station is connected to the municipal aqueduct and the quality of the drinking water is superior. The station has its own wastewater treatment plant as well as a complete rain water collection and distribution system used for watering plants and crops and minor cleaning activities. Also, Descansos offers internet service 24/7 as well as a Bluetooth wireless speaker allowing you to play music from your computer or mobile device. Descansos is next to la Finca La Flor, a agroecological organic farm where, for a reasonable fee you can enjoy different activities, such as Spanish classes, cooking, walking on the forest (el bosque), feeding the horses, cows, gouts, chickens, ducks and so on. Descansos work with people from the community to provide additional services to visitors, such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, transportation and so on. The cabin has 3 bethrooms, each one with a private bathroom. You can choose to rent any one of them, 2 of them or the entire cabin. Pricing wil vary according to your needs. Descansos is the perfect place for you to vacation, to rest or to work on any personal issue that may require change or improvement. It will be our pleasure to have you as one of our visitors.
