Phoupad is a nice person, and took care of us very well. Her family and neighbors are so friendly. We became friends with everyone. So we decided to extend our stay. This is one of tipical asian villages in asia, but it's difficult to find any place like this now. It's a bit difficult to get this place, but it's worth to come.

Our stay at Phoudpha's home was a real adventure. It took a while to get there on the local bus from Pakse, but it was fun to be around locals returning to their villages from the main market. You could probably also get a taxi, which would be more expensive. When we arrived, Phoudpha and her family gave us a warm welcome, prepared a late lunch and then took us out on the Mekong to see the sunset and visit an island of goats! Over our few days with her, she took us to various places to see real Lao life, including a Buddhist festival and a music concert. She introduced us to her friends and neighbors, and really made us feel like part of the village. If you're looking for a genuine Lao homestay and glimpse of everyday life, this is the place to go. You need to be aware that it's some distance from the nearest city, and you'll be living the way Lao people do (e.g. eastern toilet, showering with a bucket), but those things make it a really special experience. Phoudpha and her family are very sweet, special people and the kids in the house and the village are some of the cutest and most fun that you'll meet on your travels. They were genuinely excited to have us stay with them and learn about their lives. Phoudpha is trying to support the local economy and help Lao people and tourists come together, so it's an effort well worth supporting.

Amazing stay in a small, authentic village. Phoudpha has been a great guide about the local culture, and during the various visits and activities I had. Her family and the villagers were very welcoming and open to share their way of life. Expect a little quiet rural community, simple accomodations in a well-maintained traditional house, local food, beautiful sunrises on the Mekong, nature everywhere, slow peaceful moments away from the city, and lots of smiles. I'll be happy to come back in the future if I'm in the area.
