Carlos and Helena are very friendly and welcoming. The house is lovely and very classically country stylish. The river and fruit trees provide a nice outdoor experience. Eating fresh fruit that we picked was most enjoyable. The house has everything we needed. The beds are firm but Helena brought extra padding at our request. Would recommend the stay.

Agree with all the positives noted in prior reviews- location peaceful, very kind and generous hosts. The basket of varied fruit, bread, milk, jams (made be Helena’s mother), ham and cheese, Carlos’s honey and port- all a nice amenity! The oranges and eggs were the best we ever tasted. We lost power 1 evening as there is limited supply in the village- don’t run heat, washer and hot pot same time. Carlos and Helena 15 min away; resolved that eve with explanation. Liquid laundry soap available, very strong scent. Purchase your own if prefer scent free. Hot water is on a demand system; temperature fluctuates when using. Beds were firm-perfect for us! In February, rain and cool weather can make stone house difficult to heat. Mini split heat/AC in living room and bedrooms. Difficult to negotiate turns and steep pitch from garage if no back up camera or guidance; we damaged economy size rental in rear. Enjoyed our stay and would return in warmer weather. The shale villages are magical!

if you're looking for a quaint, lovely and calm place to hang out, this is for you. Lots of outdoor space and beautiful scenery as well as walks. We really appreciated the quiet and tranquility. Access to Coimbra was easy and the 'welcome book' had lots of information about the area. Carlos and his wife were lovely and very helpful. We recommend asking for the bed topper to soften up the beds!
