The historic farmhouse welcomes guests from all over the world to live in a clean and safe agricultural community. Located across the street from Bishop's University, our farm house is convenient and welcoming. The urban farm is dedicated to growing healthy farm food, caring for honey bees, dozens of varieties of fruits and vegetables, edible flowers as well as chickens, geese and rabbits. Guests will learn and grow at the farm too, if they volunteer time and efforts to build the farm. Close to Bishop's University with privacy and natural setting. Active small organic farm still in operation will provide fresh produce for our guests in season. The rooms are vintage 20th century style rooms, with so much character for each room. Ohh, if the walls could talk ? There have been recent updates and renovations without disturbing its' historic charm. We host people from all over the world.

I had a good stay at Chris's place. A very communicative host who wanted everyone to have a good stay. In fact, he wrote to me very often before my stay and even checked in on me from time to time whilst I was there. Given my particular preference (working from home and hence needing a designated workspace), Chris gave me the room with the study nook, where apparently lots of studying happens in that nook! I was not the first one to use to fully utilise that nook :) Place was as promised. Very clean and everything needed and provided for a long stay. The nature aspect was a huge plus; the back of the house overlooks the river and one can hear the ducks and the birds. I took many a good walk by the river. There is also a Rabbit in Residence, whom I have since christened Hopsy. So, dear future guests, if you see Hopsy around the house, he likes carrots very much. Don't touch him. He wants your food, not your love :D Thank you, Chris, for this great stay. You are doing good work!

Be our guest at The Farmhouse, a vibrant small-scale farm with a heart for the earth and its people. People who stay with us are very interested in living and volunteering at an active community urban farm. They want to learn farming and gardening knowledge to someday begin their own gardens or farms.
Our historical site, located on First Nations Abenaki territory, used to belong to the Department of Agriculture prior to being the home of a refugee family, making it the ideal location for us to start our mission of farm hospitality and training 7 years ago. It is through donations and the involvement of dedicated on-site and off-site volunteers that Chris and his partners have united efforts to offer a beautiful urban garden experience.
Our beautiful urban location near highway 410 and Bishop's University, directly on St. François river, makes it an exceptional starting point for cyclists who want to enjoy the Route Verte path; fish, canoe, kayak or tube the river or simply explore all Sherbrooke has to offer. Our bird life is amazing and is a recognized birding location by provincial authorities, especially for swallows and chimney swifts. A fire pit by the river will be made available, in respect of all fire bans, with firewood available for purchase.
Seasonal, fresh farm produce will be available for purchase as well as guided garden tours for a donation. Prior arrangements should be made with Chris.
Our neighbours are Bishop's University and Agricultural Canada research centre. Hundreds of people travel by our farm each day, and enjoy the growth and development of this urban farm.

Chris is an active community organizer, outdoor adventurer and focused philanthropist. Former head coach at Bishop's University soccer program and executive with a very successful Sherbrooke company. Together with his wife, Karen, they are busy with a large family. If time and interest permits, he'd love to take you out on a skidoo/atv adventure in the winter or a local bike tour or kayak/canoe in the summer.
