Perfect family getaway! Peaceful, serene, and relaxing. We enjoyed fishing and paddling in the pond, playing corn hole, playing board games and watching DVDs together. Did not miss the Internet or cable TV at ALL while we were there. The best sleep I’ve had all year because I was so relaxed. We will be back again!

The location of the cabin was wonderful! Close enough to town that it was only a short drive to restaurants and shopping, easy access to the things we needed but also far enough back off the road that we felt like we were in a tranquil setting. Although the cabin is located behind the owner’s (?) house and next to an event space we did not see anyone else have any interruptions during our stay. The cabin is very rustic with an old country feel and could definitely use a little TLC. The microwave had some exterior damage which had been repaired with duct tape. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs on the knick knack decor as well as the three mounted deer heads over the fireplace which gave the appearance they were drooling (lol). The check in instructions with which we were provided (using a code for the front door) did not work as the lock assembly was misaligned and the bolt would not retract. As I was about to reach out to the host for assistance my husband discovered both of the side doors were unlocked and a keychain with the door key was on the kitchen counter. The concrete floor downstairs and the hardwood floor upstairs were slightly sticky/tacky underfoot but I suspect that was from residue of whatever had been used to mop the floors. The appliances and surfaces were clean. The cabin was tidy. The shower curtain was stained and the liner in need of replacement but the shower itself appeared to be clean. The upstairs bedroom is open to the downstairs (loft style) which was not clearly described in the listing or visible in the photos. With it just being my husband and myself on this trip it wasn’t a big deal but it may be something to consider if you are traveling with family or friends. The open layout makes for reduced privacy and sound carries throughout the cabin. There is a queen size bed and a full size bed in the upper loft area and a single twin bed downstairs. The queen bed mattress upstairs was a bit on the soft side and sunken in the center. Our first night’s sleep in that bed was not great. The full mattress was great and I slept in that bed the second night of our stay and slept well. The bedding looked and smelled fresh although the pillowcase on the long, body pillow was stained with what looked to be toothpaste or face cream (I hope) so I removed it from the bed during our stay. The outside areas (porch and upstairs balcony) are well appointed with seating (rocking chairs and benches on porch, bistro table and chairs on balcony) but there were lots of spiderwebs and carpenter bees and wasps (nests in outdoor lights, behind the outdoor thermometer, and nests on the balcony) are an issue in spite of several carpenter bee traps around the porch area and a can of wasp spray in the cabin. Although we were looking forward to enjoying the outdoor space at night all lit up as shown in the photos we could not find a way to turn the outside string lights on. On our last day we discovered that the small, square, black remote which was left on the counter operated those lights. Some sort of instructions for those things along with information about local attractions, shopping, and dining would have been helpful but we did not see a guest binder anywhere. I’ve noticed some of these issues have been noted before in reviews dating back over a year so I’m not sure why they have not been addressed. For the nightly rate I definitely think some improvements should be made as I feel it is overpriced for what you get. That all having been said we had a nice stay. The host graciously accommodated our last minute reservation request and for that we are very grateful .

Rustic cabin by wedding or event area. Beautiful location. Make sure that there are no birds in the chimney…your dogs will hate it and so will you. Lauren was a responsive host when we arrived. Her father lives on site (house go past on drive to cabin). Be sure to bring any DVDs if you have them because we could not hook up our devices without the proper cables.

The cabin was a great change of pace for my family. The cabin was exactly what was shown in the pictures. The entire grounds are very well kept. If you are looking for a nice quiet place outside of the city this is a wonderful place.

The host was quick to reply to questions. The locations is quite and beautiful.
