I cannot recommend this place enough. I highly, highly encourage folks to stay here, and to spend time with the host, Ben. He is the funniest, kindest person who will make your time in Yap remarkable. I was just passing through Yap on business and wasn’t expecting much, but ended up having such an amazing time that I can’t wait to come back. I felt right at home, was able to cook and enjoy community space while also having my own room and quiet time. The location is great, it’s extremely walkable to colonia for restaurants and stores. I recommend playing cards and having a cup of coffee with Ben. He has a beautiful garden and can tell you all about the medicines that grow there. His family also stopped by frequently and were all so kind and fun to connect with. I had lots of great laughs, and learned lots about Yapese and Ultihian history and culture. Everyone was so helpful and personable, I will always hold the friendships I made with them close to my heart. 5 stars and beyond!

I stayed at Yap Bayside Inn for 10 days. It was by far the best deal around. It was considerably cheaper than other places and I got much more from my stay there than I would have from other hotels. Ben was an excellent host. He was kind, well informed and always had a local dish ready to share. He prepared everything from local vegetarian dishes to local fish and land crab dishes. Although food is not included in the room cost he was always willing to share and asked nothing in return; although I did cook some dishes popular in my country for him to try. He went out of his way to help coordinate my dive trips and arrange taxis. I really enjoyed talking to Ben and learned a lot of interesting facts about Yap and Yapese culture from listening to him. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Yap Bayside Inn. I felt at home and also felt a connection to the local culture that I wouldn't have gotten staying at a hotel. I therefore highly recommend staying at this property.

Yap Bayside is a great place to stay. They arranged for someone to pick me up from the airport, and where extremely hospitable throughout my visit. The facilities are great, and the location is very well situated - with food, convenience stores, and a car rental agency all within walking distance. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Yap!
