When contacting us, there are a couple different people who might be responding to you, depending on the day of the week. Myself (Anna) or Nikki take turns handling correspondence and calls. There are pictures of each of us shown. I began managing my first vacation rental over 18 years ago while in college. It was a perfect part time job. I could take calls via cell phone, clean the house on Sunday after check-out, and then be ready for school again on Monday. Soon, the Little Yellow Cottage was booked solid, so I started working on a second rental. It wasn't long before other people began to ask me to manage their homes. What had begun as a part-time/temporary job soon turned into a full time endeavor. I am grateful for this work as it allows me to live in this mountain community where I grew up. I am the third generation of my family to live in Murphys and would be happy to answer any questions you have about the area. When not working, I try to be in the outdoors as much as possible. This might include: hiking, camping, skiing/snowboarding, watersports, etc... In addition, I have done a fair bit of traveling in Central and South America as well as Europe and most recently to Africa. There is nothing like being in a totally new environment- with smells, tastes, and sounds which are foreign to the senses. You will most likely reach me in the evenings or if you are staying at a home and have a problem. Nikki takes calls midweek from 9-5. Her family has also lived in the Murphys area for several generations, so she is familiar with local attractions and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Before coming to work at Murphys Vacation Rentals she had an adorable gift shop in Avery for years called the Garden Keeper. It specialized in unique gifts and garden related items. Currently, she has a side business selling aromatherapy products in local stores and Farmer's Markets which she hand crafts. "Under the Sun" has a huge line of sunscreens, bug repellant, skin lotions, etc..., many of which are produced using native plants which she harvests.
