We, my wife, my one yo baby and I, had a great stay at Wein’s house. She had everything we could dream of for our baby: a baby cot, a baby chair for eating all together at the table, plenty of toys and kitchen wares for babies. And even a baby bath! She welcomed us with home made cakes and everything in the fridge and on the table for great breakfast. She later brought us some Chinese desert she made and even greeted us farewell with a box of nut cakes. She took us to the Youth Park where you some open air small pools for kids to escape the heat of the afternoon. The apartment is located in the historical center of the city and all interesting places are at a walking distance. It has a city view which is very nice. The apartment has fans and air cons and offers all you can need during your stay. WiFi works well. Tv doesn’t have English speaking channels though. But George Town’s nightlife offers enough so you don’t have to watch tv :) Probably one of the best place in town for this price.

Нам очень понравилось, и мы можем рекомендовать именно это жильё в Пенанге. Во-первых, очень хорошее расположение, исторические достопримечательности начинаются буквально через дорогу. Во-вторых, в квартире новые вещи в хорошем состоянии. В-третьих, можно не заботиться о мелочах, в квартире есть всё, что может понадобиться. В-четвертных, хозяйка очень гостеприимна (довезла по пути до достопримечательного храма, угостила нас пудингом при въезде и вафлями при выезде, последнее было особенно приятно, поскольку до отъезда мы не имели возможности позавтракать) и отлично говорит по-английски (я даже не успевал всё понимать так быстро, т.к. владею английским языком гораздо хуже). И всё это по очень скромной цене. Бронируйте спокойно, это намного лучше отелей и большинства других вариантов с квартирами.

The aprtment is really cosy and comfortable to work with a laptop. It has nice big table where you can work with ease. The internet is sufficient unless you plan to upload tons of GB to yt. Apartment has 2 AC - one in bedroom and second in living room to cool down temperature. Bathroom is ok. Kitchen is minimal - good for cooking some stews but harder for any other dishes that require multiple pots. Wahsing machine in apartment a nice addition. Location is really close to many attractions and hosts provide nicr local guide :) the downside of the location is that it is near main road and its really noisy even up to 2am due to motorbikes and scooters running there. Hard to catch a sleep since no good soundproof is done in bedroom.

Hsiao Wen and her husband are the most gracious hosts I've ever stayed with on Airbnb. They go above and beyond to make sure that you're comfortable in the apartment. They stay right across in an apartment on the same floor so super easy to access them if you need them. First, you can book for 1-2 rooms, but you'll get the entire apartment to yourself even if you only book one room. This was a nice plus since I wanted my own bathroom. Note that you should turn the white plastic handle to turn on the shower (I missed it the first time haha). Also each room has its own AC that you have to turn on when you get back. The living room currently only has a fan but Hsiao Wen is planning on installing an AC. I found the apartment to be quite cooling when I opened the windows and doors and only use the fan. Second, the location of the apartment is in central Georgetown. It's a 5 min walk to the famous wall arts and the piers. Super close to everything. If you want to go to the beaches or the national park, you can take the free city bus. Being central, it's right next to the main road with cars coming off the freeway so expected to hear the humming of the AC and cars while you sleep at night. I found the soft city noise to be soothing but lighter sleepers may not. Note that the building itself is a complex so it can be slightly confusing to find but good thing Hsiao Wen is an excellent communicator and she was waiting for me in the parking lot when I arrived. I also arrived a bit later due to traffic so super thankful she waited for me. Third, Hsiao Wen consistently asked me how she can make the apartment experience better for her guests. This shows that she truly cares about her guests experience. Lastly, as a solo female traveler, Hsiao Wen and her family really went above and beyond to help me be comfortable in the city. She went with me to grab cash at the ATM to make sure I'm safe, took me to eat at the markets at night to make sure I wasn't eating alone, made me breakfast, and sent her husband to look for me when my phone was dead and I was running a bit late for my flight. Staying with them provided an authentic homestay experience and made me feel really safe traveling solo and now I have my Penang family that I will return to in the future!
