Design Ashram is a vintage home maintained with its vintage aesthetics. The entrance, stairs, waiting room, common area has a rustic vibe to it. Host has maintained the vintage look with a few modern amenities. Accommodation charges are affordable. The host Sherbas and helpers Pushpa and Arjun are very polite and have a good conversation and share their recommendations of places to visit. This place is walkable distance to the beach, less than 500 mts. Has a lot of options for food and cafe in the vicinity. Shap & Kadalas are my recommendations if you are staying here. The private room can easily accomodate 3, 4 will be a stretch. The only drawback, not with the ashram, is the people hanging around till late evenings. Since its close to the beach, you need to be prepared for this.

I stayed there for 1 day in 2nd week of April,2024. The place is situated close to the Bus stand, Kozhikode Central Railway station & from the Kozhikode beach. Its walkable from the railway station (without luggage). The staff are very friendly and the place is clean. Entering into Gujrati Street reminded me of a history and culture of a place name 'Calicut'. The place might be famous for pre-wedding photo shooting as you may find a lot of couple were doing "Save your date" inside Design Ashram & nearby streets. After spending months and years in a metro city, it provided me an ideal opportunity to slow down. There is an antique museum next to Design Ashram which is a personal collection. Might be a great place for photographers or artifact lovers. We also found friendly people with different passion and interest. Design Ashram holds music concerts on Wednesday evening. We met the owner for a coffee and the really enjoyed the story how Design Ashram started 7 years back.

Tranquil courtyard just one street away from the beach shore. The space is beautifully restored and Design Ashram team is lovely.
