Hello! We are Felix and Sarah von Racknitz. We're a musical family (Sarah teaches and plays the Celtic Fiddle, and Felix produces and composes music) who fell in love with the Highlands and decided to raise our family here. Our home, Torridon Estate, was built in 1875. It's a lively, characterful home situated in one of the most dramatic landscapes of Scotland’s west coast. We’re nestled between gentle waterfalls, hiking trails, the breathtaking mountains, and the stony shores of the loch itself -- all within an easy walking distance of our property. Two years ago, we decided to open up the house as a B&B for guests. As it's still first and foremost our family home (and not a four-star hotel), please understand that it sometimes comes with some of the quirks and personality of a historic property—meaning the house can sometimes seem to have a mind of its own. If you’re an intrepid, independent traveller (or family of travellers!) looking to base your Highland adventures somewhere unique, we’re thrilled to have you on board. For more information on the weather (bring wooly jumpers!), the wifi, the water pressure, and just about everything you'd need to know about staying here, please read the "Other Things to Note" section in the description of any of our listings. In short, we hope to ensure that all of our guests have a magical stay at Torridon Estate. If you experience any issues at all, please reach out to us or any of our staff, and we will work to remedy those complications right away. Our hope is that you come away from your time in Torridon captivated by with the same sense of adventure and wonder that prompted us to move here in the first place.
