I grew up in the Grenadines, particularly on Mount Pleasant, Bequia; the very special and intimate island hilltop community, of which the Old Fort Estate used to be the centre many centuries ago, when the French colonialized this part of the Caribbean. Whilst still being very young I witnessed everything my parents and their local team of workers did, as they rebuilt the historic ruins then managing the property for close to 25 years. Due to the location and lack of good schools, I was educated using a correspondence course from America, from a very young age until I was a teenager. Later I travelled daily with the ferry over the ocean, to do my A-levels on neighbouring St. Vincent, the main island of this island country. After spending almost 2 decades in the Caribbean I moved to Europe for experience, something which turned out to be very useful giving my life in Caribbean hospitality. At only 18 years of age, I did my apprenticeship at the Kempinski Hotel Four Seasons in Munich and following on from this, was accepted to a job as a full time food and beverage waiter in the Hilton Amsterdam. Having worked two years at these renowned establishments, I moved to London where I completed my studies in Marketing and Hospitality at the London Metropolitan University. After quite some considerable time abroad, I moved back to St. Vincent and The Grenadines my residence of choice, and was promoted by my father to become the director of the Old Fort in 2005. Before I was born my parents travelled to numerous faraway places, something which helped them learn about the key aspects of hospitality and what one would look for when travelling to a special one of a kind place for vacation. Giving my history this travel bug consequently grew inside me, as I would spend Summers in Europe visiting my grandparents. This only fueled my growing addiction to travelling. The experience of growing up on a beautiful and unique island, which attracts people hailing from all different backgrounds, and travelling to various parts of the world over many years, has helped me in becoming what I believe a great host and for me to offer this special property to you at its very best.
