Beautiful setting to wake up to: the Andean mountainside and the moving Sun. Spacious garden of local plants and surrounded by fragrant eucalyptus. Good location to explore around the Sacred Valley.

I can’t say enough about what a wonderful stay we had. My family and I had a magnificent time, and will carry beautiful memories with us forever. The accommodations, attention, helpfulness, location - I only wish I could move in forever!

Wow! There are so many good things to stay about our stay. Top of the list is the caretakers Karla and David. After a long 24 hours of traveling, the welcome meal we had prearranged for our group of eight was the perfect start to a restful stay. Karla & David each went beyond expectations in helping us communicate with others (including tour guides and drivers), shuttling our bags to the main road, preparing delicious meals (which we arranged directly with Karla once we arrived, at an extremely reasonable fee) and providing general information about the area. Karla was most patient and easy to communicate with in our far from fluent Spanish! Honestly, both Karla and David (and their daughters) were such welcoming, accommodating, sweet hosts that we all felt well looked after. The house is well laid out for privacy and comfort (one bedroom is upstairs separate from the two main floor bedrooms, each with its own bathroom) with many spots to gather indoor and out. The kitchen is well stocked and their are ample, comfortable linens, blankets and towels. Yes, the house is located up a long, steep drive that can be difficult to find and navigate. Our small shuttle made it thanks to a tenacious driver and David running down to the main street to meet us and guide us up! For our other rides, we simply walked down to the main road for pick-up. On the day of our departure, David kindly awoke very early to shuttle our luggage down to the road (we walked) so that our tour driver could easily find us. With a little pre-communication, it was straightforward and not a big deal. We enjoyed the location immensely. The house is about a 20-25 minute walk from the main square of Ollantaytambo. While some of the walk occurs on the main road, much of it can be completed on a side trail below. We enjoyed the daily roundtrip walk into town and considered it part of our acclimating to the altitude (we live at sea level) and preparation for our upcoming trek (and yes, it'd be easy to take a taxi, as well). While the walk from the main road up to the house is steep, it's not unmanageable if you are comfortable walking on trails. The location out of town and up the hill from the main road allowed for a quiet, peaceful, private retreat that we all enjoyed immensely. We did not meet Gianfranco but he was very easy to communicate with from the start, including the modifications to our reservations, answering logistical questions and providing contact phone #s once we arrived. Obviously, we had a great time. Our stay went well beyond our expectations in every way and helped us begin our journey in Peru well rested, happy and excited. Thank you Gianfranco, Karla & David for a most special stay. Take care.

Gorgeous house, fantastic caretakers. Just a heads up that it’s a challenge to get to and from. But overall a great experience.
