科特塔耶姆(Kottayam) · 整套民居 · 1室1床1.5卫 · 可住2人 · Serene apartment, cozy & safe and a river nearby
Post Covid, we built our home nearby & stayed at Padma Sadma during construction. Now, our home is built and we are ready to welcome guests once more. Do come, stay & have a wonderful experience. A safe, cozy haven standing tall among trees. A separate studio apartment within our family compound. Built with a rustic feel, Padma Sadma resembles a tree house with an open feel. Well ventilated with a lot of open spaces, you can sleep to the chirp of crickets & wake up to bird songs Very close to Vaikom temple, this is ideally located if you plan to visit Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, Ettumanur Mahadeva Temple and Kaduthuruty Siva Temple on the same day, which is considered very auspicious. Ashtami festival at Vaikom temple is world famous, so is the unique Attuvela festival on the Muvattupuzha River of the Vadayar Elamkavu Temple. There is an excellent restaurant, Puzhayoram Food Court, just across the street by the river side, serving authentic local cuisine. In addition, excellent grilled food also can be enjoyed in the evenings. A fruit & vegetable vendor is just a couple of yards away and so are a few pottery shops. A couple of supermarkets are close by and so is Thalayolaparambu general market. Muvattupuzha River is right across the street and many backwater canals can be easily accessed from very near the house. There are a few house-boat vendors here who can arrange rides that are far more serene than those at the main tourist spots. Strolling through the quiet and clean streets of the neighborhood, with so much greenery all round, is an experience by itself . Walk across the bridge just a few yards away, enjoying the mesmerizing gentle flow of the river. Auto rickshaws or buses are very easily available right in front of the gate or can be arranged on call. Padma Sadma is away from busy towns and very close to tourist attractions like Kottayam, Kumarakom and Allapuzha. The nearby village of Thalayolaparambu is easily accessible and has many shops and restaurants. Vaikom, another village, with the world famous Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, is only a couple of minutes away by bus or auto and has a boat jetty too, offering exquisite boat rides to Ernakulam, Kumarakom, Cherthala and Alapuzha. This boat jetty is on Vembanad Lake (Vembanad Kayal), the largest lake in India. A lovely promenade abutting the lake is ideal for a relaxing walk, or for just sitting, gazing at spectacular sunsets. A ferry is also in service that will take you and your vehicle across the lake and that in itself is an experience to cherish.
It was our huge good luck to book Jyothi's house for our first 3 days in Kerala. He and his wife helped us to make our itinerary in Kerala , answered all our questions. Beautiful people, who sincerely helped us, protected us and gave us unique local tips and special cultural experience. Our breakfast at their house was amazing, tasty, and very special. If I could give for this accommodation with Jyothi 10 stars! Accommodation, communication, design in the house, property itself, clean, kind and helpful owners - all excellent! We got friends in Kerala! Thank you very much for hosting us!
Any words we use will be relatively shallow to describe how amazing our experience was with Jyothi & Krishna. 1stly, they treat you like family & dear old friends, not as just bnb guests. We were embraced by their hearts & souls, literally even from the stage of planning the trip. Krishna suggested us the very best of everything around there. The place felt like our home truly. It was precious, pristine & surrounded by the greenery, was a truly blissful experience. The place we loved most during our trip & slept most peacefully every night. The dogs in the compound are a perk to dog lovers like us. It is close to the backwaters. Highly suggested to anyone planning a trip down there. Just beware of being invited to Jyothi’s kitchen because she literally lavishes her guests with tremendous amount of amazing food & love that you will be overfilled. We know we found true friends & family for life. We hated to leave & wish to be back at Padma Sadma, with our new found family soon again. 🙏
Felt very happy in booking this place. Mrs Jyoti was very kind and helpful. she gave us a complement breakfast, which was very delicious. she was very helpful in guiding places, explained very clearly about the local area and transport. The ambience of the room was very pleasant, peaceful. you can get all the basic amenities in the room. AC, water heater, hairdryer, kettle, gas stove, fridge, iron box, wifi. Finally worth paying for the room. and very kind host. will revisit in future. I strongly recommend 👍🏽
The house is built on stilts, which gives you an aerial view of the surreal surroundings. The room is spacious, has a comfy bed, and perfect couch. Krishna uncle and Jyothi aunty were superb hosts - very responsive, flexible with our requests and helped us with local recommendations. Aunty invited us to her house which is in the same compound as Padma Sadma. She served us some delicious food and we really enjoyed her company. I would highly recommend Padma Sadma to all guests.
We loved our stay at Jyothi and Krishna's place! The accommodation itself is incredible value - spacious, clean, well equipped and with lovely fittings. It is set off the road in a quiet cul-de-sac, right next to a really nice riverside restaurant. But the real highlight was the hosting from Jyothi and Krishna. They were so welcoming, sharing a delicious keralan breakfast with us on our first morning, providing travel advice and recommendations of what to do in the area. There are river boats and kayaking that you can hire very nearby, which provide an amzing way to explore the beautiful keralan backwaters far away from the crowding and tourism of places like Allepey. All together, highly recommend!
Padma Sadma has the gentle Muvattupuzha River just across the road. Serene evenings can be spend on the banks, just being mesmerised by the gentle flow or try your hand at fishing from the bridge just a few yards away. (fishing rods to be brought by you) Fish are aplenty and you can join the natives trying their hand on the bridge.
A food court, Puzhayoram, right across the road, serves authentic local cuisine and has a variety of fresh fish and meat dishes as well as vegetarian dishes.
A boat ride is available just across the road and you can hire it directly.
Just about 15 minutes away is Vaikom, a lakeside town on the banks of Vembanadu Lake, the largest in Kerala. A charming walkway and sit-about adds to its attraction. One of the most famous Siva temple is also here and it's annual festival during Astami (December) is worth one's bucket list.
A lovely Agricultural Theme Park, Mango Meadows is just minutes away which is surely worth a couple of hours.
Palaikari Aqua Tourism Centre, another beautiful, serene must visit spot is also nearby. This is a government run project with lots of land and water bodies and just walking around the tiled walkways is a sheer pleasure.
Less than 24 kilometers (35 minutes by car) away is Kumarakom, the main tourist destination for backwater tourism. Laced with backwaters and with house boats aplenty, It is an experience one must ensure to enjoy. Other than the houseboats, there is a Driftwood museum and a bird sanctuary at Kumarakom.
Padma Sadma is just off the state highway and this road is the main link between Vaikom and Kottayam. So public transport is never a problem, except after 9 pm. Private autos and taxis are always available on call and road conditions are excellent for owner driven vehicles.
Having your own vehicle is the best way to travel, no doubt. However, taxis, autorickshaws, government run buses and private buses are available. Buses are by far the least expensive and taxis can be arranged for a reasonable rate. Autorickshaws are available almost from next to the gate. We will be able to give our guests clear instructions for travel, however, communication has to be good and bargaining is the norm with autorickshaw guys almost everywhere. They simply will not put their meter on. Most Keralites understand English and will be able to communicate passably. Hindi is easily understood thanks to the influx of labor from northern parts of the county. We can recommend reliable private taxis and the charges are told upfront however, the financial dealings will have to be direct between the taxi owners and the guests.
Night travel, if you have your own vehicle is not an issue at all. But unless you book a taxi, other forms of transport might be a challenge. So if you plan to travel at night, make sure of your conveyance.
