West Lodge was very comfortable and the grounds of the castle were beautiful and peaceful, with lots of room for our grandchildren to play. Even though the accommodation is for 6 there was easily room to fit 11 when a our family came for dinner. It was so kind of Cat to leave us a welcome pack of the essentials, bread, milk, etc. We were also very close to the Coop in Duns so shopping very easy. We went to the Easter event at Paxton house which was close by.
Some aspects excellent (warm and great bathrooms) and great location but a number of small issues during our stay. Eg no logs or fire tools/glove (must order in advance), kitchen has basics but no cooking essential ingredients so bring everything you need, EV charger is shared and located on another part of the estate (8 mins walk in the dark), possibly deep clean needed as some areas behind furniture (we moved a sofa to switch a lamp on) dusty, dead insects and an old dog harness (we don't have a dog) - all not worth bothering the host and Cat responded well when the washing machine leaked, but overall good and could be excellent.
West Lodge is set in an idyllic location within castle grounds. The property is great and very peaceful, ideal for a nice getaway.
Great couple of nights stay in West Lodge. Plenty space for 5 adults , 1 teenager, and a dog. Our visit was during the Festive period. The Christmas tree was up, and we had the log burner on making it feel a bit more cosy and special. The lodge has everything you could need and was nice and clean. Grounds lovely for a walk.
We had a really relaxing stay here with all the family. The ground of the estate are gorgeous and perfect for walking our dogs in.

Cleanliness is also a high priority and overseen by our excellent housekeeping team. We provide extensive information on the local area in advance of your stay and can also help with child-friendly holidays, providing travel cots, high chairs, changing mats and baby baths. Come to stay with us and then go wherever your wellies take you to discover battlefields, beaches, abbeys and country houses in the surrounding area.
