Staying with Mario is such a wonderful, relaxing experience. He is a gracious and delightful host and we feel fortunate that he shared his beautiful home with us!

What a wonderful experience!!! Don’t think about it - book a room at Mario and Catarina’s Quinta. You’ll thank yourself (& them) for choosing to stay here. It’s an absolutely incredible place and they are SUCH wonderful people & excellent host. The accommodations are comfortable, clean, and inviting. If you’ve never been to this historic area of Douro Valley then you are in for a treat. You can look forward to quiet, colorful days free of light and city pollution. Breakfast & dinner were wonderful and plentiful. The hosts make an effort to cook traditional meals (all delicious) and include their wonderful wine as well! I had the opportunity to stay while other guest were staying in other rooms and it only added to the experience! Wonderful conversations by the fireplace and music in the evenings. I hope to make this a yearly trip. Grateful this family has opened their home for city people like us to escape to enjoy for a few days. Recommend staying 5+ days if possible!

Staying at Marios is like visiting a good friend. It is a lovely peaceful setting that was easy to immerse ourselves into. The house is comfortable, exactly as pictured and described. We never heard the other guests once we left the living and dining rooms. Going for walks, sitting on the terrace or by the river reading and enjoying the views, watching birds and joining Mario for his wonderful home cooked meals made this a perfect two night stay for us. Be prepared for the peaceful location away from towns, restaurants and sights. I highly recommend this stay!

Wir haben 3 Nächte bei Mario verbracht und haben die Zeit genossen. Mit dem Wetter hatten wir leider nicht soviel Glück. Das hat dem Zauber der Gegend aber nichts anhaben können. Wir haben die Ruhe und Schönheit der Umgebung genossen. Wir haben uns Ruhe gewünscht und haben diese bekommen. Eigentlich wollten wir mit dem Zug fahren. Das letzte Stück müßte man mit einem Taxi fahren. Dies war uns zu umständlich und wir haben ein Auto in Porto gemietet und haben dies nicht bereut. Dadurch waren wir flexibel. Die gemeinsamen Abendessen fanden wir besonders toll. Wir haben in guter Gesellschaft interessante Gespräche geführt. Mario ist ein sehr freundlicher und interessanter Gastgeber, welcher immer hilfsbereit war. Sein Wein schmeckt fantastisch. Wir möchten wieder kommen.

one of our favorite Airbnb experiences ever! Located east of Pinhao by 6 train stops, away from the bustle of tourists. Mario and Catarina are such lovely, genuine hosts. guests all dine together for home cooked meals and of course delicious wine and amazing conversation. Come here to get away from everything, to kayak the Suora, to walk for miles through vineyards and olives or along the Douro. We stayed 5 days which was enough to finally relax and get into the rythym of the country side. Can't wait to come back! thank you Mario much!
