Once a church, our cedar log lodge is perched on a knoll overlooking the ocean. The Great Room (once the worship room) of this magnificent building has vaulted 14” cedar ceilings and plenty of room to stretch out in four conversation nooks including one by the wood stove. Indigenous art hangs on our walls, and books of many variations grace our library. The lodge is the perfect place to take in the ocean, inhale the cedar aroma and loose yourself in the serene vibe of this place. This room features an ocean view, two queen sized beds, a mini-fridge, a private entrance and lots of elbow room. Outside is a private, covered deck.

Nina and Scott were wonderful hosts! They were very friendly and nice to chat with. The provided breakfast is fantastic (we had the Shakshouka and it was delicious). The location was great- very quiet and serene. The ocean was just a stone's throw from our deck area and we fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Would highly recommend this place for people looking to relax.

Tucked in location on a small island right across from the ocean. The hostess, Nina was wonderful. Would definately go back.

Cormorant Island is 5 kilometers long and can easily be explore on foot. Alert Bay Lodge is about a 1.5 kilometer walk along the ocean road to the village of Alert Bay. The beach, just steps away from the lodge, is a great spot to beachcomb, launch kayaks and have beach fires. Not far from the lodge is an old shipwreck. The neighborhood itself is generally small homes, all with either a view of the ocean or mountains, or both.
The lodge has free parking for up to ten vehicles. Guests who don't have a vehicle needn't worry as the 5 kilometer long island is accessible on foot. The lodge itself is a 20 minute walk to the Village.

Scott and Nina are the owners of Alert Bay Lodge, once a church. We've owned the lodge since 2000 and, during the off-season, have been making changes and renovations since then. As you'll see when you walk through our front door and into our Great Room, our efforts have been a labour of love!
