It was a quick trip to NY but Robert was so kind and welcoming to our arrival. We learned a lot about him and found out we had a lot of common interests. He was very accommodating and helpful. The location couldn't be more convenient to day/night entertainments. Highly recommend a stay here. Warning: Salem the cat is a huge sweetheart and loves his belly rubbed ;)
My experience was great. Robert is very friendly and a hospitable host. Doing everything in his power to ensure they all have a great stay. The house is very large, making the room you'll stay in very private. The town of Patchogue is a very close walk, with lots to see and do. You are also very close to Fire Island ferries and beaches.
I had a wonderful stay with Robert thanks to his friendliness, hospitality, and flexibility. His home is beautiful and cozy. I appreciated having a key to my room to ensure privacy and his house rules are great for streamlining your stay. His cats are adorable as well so that was a huge plus! I would recommend staying here without hesitation.
My 20 years daughter stayed at Robert’s single room for 101 days during her summer internship in Medford. As you stay such a long time at someone’s home, you start to notice all the goods and bads. The place is very quiet and 15min by foot to the Patchogue train Station and 1:40h to Manhattan. Close to the main street with cafes and restaurants. There are supermarkets around, 15-20min walk. TV, AC and Wi-Fi worked well. Bed is comfortable. There is a separate mini-fridge on the up floor to the guests, small but useful. Robert gave good tips about transportation in the area. The main problem is focused in the lack of cleaning. In a house with 5 cats (now 4), it has to have a weekly professional cleaning. It reflects in the kitchen, the bathroom, and the strong smell from the cats and cat hair all over the house. Some week best, some week worst. During her stay, Robert had health problems with his father, himself and one cat, and stayed many days out of the house. So, as much he tried, home maintenance was faulty. He needs help to improve this matter and give a 5 star accommodation to the guests. The overall experience was good, but it is close to be excellent with an organized schedule of cleaning. I stayed in Robert's house for 12 weeks while doing a clinical clerkship at the hospital nearby. Robert was very friendly and an awesome host who regularly checked up if I needed anything and responded immediately. When it got a little cold once in the room because we had a cold front come in, Robert gave me a space heater and went out the very afternoon to get some materials to keep the heat in. Robert is very active in the community and has traveled extensively, so we always had interesting topics to talk about. The house is large with 4 bedrooms upstairs -3 of which are listed on airbnb. All the rooms came with locks for privacy. I stayed in the smallest room which was very concise and functional for a student. It was clean and well furnished. There's even a TV with cable in the room which is an added perk. There is a kitchen down stairs to use that is fully equipped and I made my meals there on a daily basis. Robert also has an extensive library that is available for browsing. There are 5 cats in the house but they are very friendly, each with their own personalities and quirks. On the whole I would definitely recommended checking out Robert's place if you're visiting the area and looking for a place to stay.

I am a retired high school science teacher. I taught Astronomy, AP Environmental science, Earth Science and Physics. I am a retired Navy captain and have traveled to over 120 countries. My favorite countries are New Zealand, Denmark, Iceland, Poland and Italy. I also loved Antarctica. I hold a PhD from Columbia University in International and Comparative Education specializing in the History of East Central Europe. I have a BE in Ocean Engineering from SUNY Maritime College, and an MS from University of Memphis. I also have lived in Poland for 2 years on a Fulbright Teachers exchange and on active duty with the Navy. This is not a hotel or fancy bed and breakfast, but it is my home and I try to keep it as clean as possible . Please use hand sanitizer provided upon entering. If you have any complaints during your stay please contact me immediately and I will do my utmost to rectify the situation. All rooms are air conditioned and have television with altice optimum and refrigerators. The library, outside patio area with new lawn awning, kitchen and Dining room are accessible to guests. The refrigerator on the first floor is the owners and is not available to guests. You may cook in the kitchen as long as you clean up after yourself. Pots and pans and utensils are available. Please do not eat food in the room. Maximum reservation is 14 days according to the bed and breakfast code except by special arrangement. No cooking in the rooms according to code. All four rooms are on the second floor and are equipped with CO and smoke detectors and emergency escape ladders according to code. There is also an emergency flashlight and escape breathing mouthpiece in every room. Every room also has a fire extinguisher. I live on the premises in the attic which is off limits to guests. I recently received a five year permit to operate a Bed and Breakfast in the Town of Brookhaven. Three rooms have a shared bathroom, one room has its own bathroom with a queen size and full size bed. Old homes need constant upkeep. Please make sure you lock the door when you leave and if no one is home set the alarm. The home now has a whole house water filtration system and unlimited reverse osmosis water is available with a special spigot in the kitchen. A hot and cold water cooler is also available next to the refrigerator.
