I've never written a poor Airbnb review, but I truly had a 1-star experience here (yet gave a higher rating, to try to be fair as my case is rare). I booked 5 nights but had to cancel upon arriving due to unpleasant odors (both heavy perfume + mustiness), which I could smell THROUGH the front door and set off my very sensitive allergies. Knowing the strict no-refund policy, I was super apologetic and -- given my inability to stay in the home more than 7 min -- requested a full refund. I had a very bad experience communicating with the property manager, who was slow to respond (though prior comm was prompt), quick to take offense, couldn’t understand the validity of my refund request (yes, it was my allergies, but they were set off by the house’s odors), and kept me waiting 25 hrs on her decision (which made it hard for me to know where else I could afford to book). In the end she did not refund me. I ultimately had to take it up with Airbnb directly, who issued a full refund. Beware.

My review may be a bit biased because I'm a west side Wichita girl and this Riverside Cottage was just perfect for me. It's located in the Riverside neighborhood (my favorite.) Across the street from Sims Park. Which means there isn't much traffic and lots of folks out walking. The front porch, with a glider, is awesome...morning and night. The backyard sitting area is sweet. The kitchen had all the right things for me to make myself simple meals. I slept great. Something I don't usually do. The bed was good. The sheets were great. The pillows were just right. The bathroom...is nice...and the bathtub is deep enough for a good soak. I was imagining just moving in because I felt so much at home. From the amenities to the way the cottage is decorated. It's a sweet and comfortable place. This was my second stay here and I'm looking forward to another one...soon!

We had a nice stay. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable. The back yard was great for our daughters.

Very nice old house. It was in a great location for my visit with my daughter who is at WSU. It was hard to find a place in Wichita that had a place to sit outside and this house had a nice back yard and nice front porch overlooking the golf course. It is wonderful to see an older house kept in such great condition. Emily was very helpful and the place was also super clean. We walked down the street to the Botanic Gardens which was really nice. Would definitely stay there again. Thanks!
