On our travels around Texas, this cabin was one of the best places on our trip! Great for families and perfect to kick back, relax and spend quality time in a cabin in the woods setting. We were met by a very friendly couple Lynne and John. The cabin was exactly what we needed, great space with all amenities as listed, 1 bedroom and a pull out sofa bed. On the counter were 3 homemade pumpkin muffins; a very welcome treat, especially for our 4 year old getting added sprinkles! We met the rest of the “orchard inn family”. Tank the friendly Labrador, the red team of chickens, couple of Goats and as not long after Easter, Lynn had 8 small chicks who my daughter checked on daily! The cabin comes with a BBQ and fire pit area and we BBQ’d on a couple of nights and sat toasting marshmallows for smores. The cabin also has a hummingbird feeder - a nice touch. We stayed 4 nights in total and could have stayed longer! Thank you for the great memories.

We loved our stay with Lynn! She is a very conscientious host and extremely detail oriented. She even made us homemade pumpkin cupcakes made from her garden. Delicious! The bed was very comfortable and the cottage was perfect for our stay. Vanderpool is beautiful!

Lynn and John’s place was perfect for our weekend getaway. Lynn and John were warm and friendly without being at all obtrusive. And the other reviews don’t do justice to Lynn’s homemade pumpkin cupcakes: They’re divine. The lodgings are simple, very clean, rustic and spacious. Nothings fancy, but very homey and functional. The property is surrounded by beautiful, gnarly old live oaks that give the place a charming, fairy-tail kind of vibe. In the mornings our front porch was teeming with tiny hummingbirds. Across the street from the house you have private access to a little stretch of the Sabinal river where we waded and skipped stones at sunset. The second day we went for a hike at the Lost Maples State Natural Area less than 10 minutes drive away. The weather was perfect and then park was beautiful. There are numerous different trail lengths and difficulty levels. We very much enjoyed our brief stay at Lynn and John’s charming guest house and would go again in a heartbeat.

Lynn & John were outstanding hosts. We enjoyed a sweet treat left for us upon our arrival, some fresh garden greens, friendly conversations, and their beautiful and relaxing property. I highly recommend this guest house when staying near Lost Maples.
