Prospect Place is a cool place to gather if you want a more unique getaway. We renovated this historic church five years ago and have shared it now with many...popular for friends to meet up, weddings, family reunions, game or craft weekends, and hunting and fishing groups. Durand is a small town right on the Chippewa River with a historic downtown (both are walking distance), and Pepin County is surrounded by bluffs and the Mississippi River with lots to do when you venture outside as well. We didn't remove anything from the historic church except the pews and the really old purple carpet. We added two bedrooms with a loft above and spiral staircase to get there. The kitchen was added to the alter area, and the main bathroom is where the nursery was. There is another half bath where the stairs used to lead to the church basement. Now you are able to enjoy a very large open space to be together with a 50" smart TV, excellent wifi, a piano, and many areas to sit and dine. When you want privacy, you can move to a bedroom or relax upstairs in the loft. Highlights include the amazing stained glass and the lighting that comes through it, high ceilings, and original wood floor. We've heard from guests that the space is even bigger than it looks in pictures. Oh, yeah! Almost forgot...you can ring the church bell too! It's tradition...ring the bell when you arrive and when you leave! There is a handicap ramp at one entrance and stairs in the front. We added a cool privacy fence in a small backyard with a picnic table and there is a park with playground one block away. Come and enjoy some time away!
