What a view in a quaint St. Lucia fishing town. Breathtaking. You are able to see Martinique from the balcony. There are fresh vegetables in the garden for cooking. Marigot is right around the corner and then Canaries and Soufriere to the south. We were welcomed immediately upon checkin for parking and then walked to our room and shown our room, all the amenities, and were told about everything the city and island had to offer.

Very nice apartment. Some equipments were missing at first but Patricia managed very quickly to bring us what we needed. In fact, Patricia did everything she could to make our stay a great one!! The apartment is big and the view is fantastic! The neighborhood is lively, you are in the heart of the Ste Lucian life. The village is nice and you can buy fresh fish and vegetables. Best view apartments had gorgeous views from every balcony. However, due to the window bars and elaborate curtains the view was only enjoyable while on the balcony. The kitchen was poorly stocked, no microwave, toaster, or cooking essentials. There was wifi however its strongest connection was in the living room, every where the signal was weak. Moreover, while there were two air conditioners in the unit, only one worked. There was also low water pressure in one of the shower so we all ended up using one shower. It was also unexpected that the owner would enter the apartment without knocking or calling ahead of time when she needed to communicate with us. The washer could be used by paying an additional charge and having a neighbor do it for you. Parking on the street was very challenging. The town is not a place to hangout especially because food was difficult to find. There was a menu in the unit but it was not available during our stay. There is a WONDERFUL beach nearby, Anse Cochon, which made the stay enjoyable.

Learn from my mistake. My brother and I spent 2 nights in this accommodation before leaving because we were very unsatisfied. Patricia, our host, was unwilling to refund any of our reservation, as is her right, but I think it would have been appropriate given the issues we described which she dismissed. For whatever it’s worth, I am myself a superhost. Before the bad, I will acknowledge that the apartment was clean and tidy, Patricia was easy to communicate with and her mother, Ruth, who lives downstairs was pleasant and accommodating. Beginning with the issues we faced, one of the showers (in bedroom 1) produced an inoperable dribble, while the air conditioning unit (in bedroom 2) did not provide cold air. We deemed these issues worthy of finding alternative accommodation as they did not seem easily remedied. After we left on day 2 of our 5 day stay, Patricia said that we had been using the AC wrong and that the shower was fine. I dispute this. Our bigger issue was that we could not manage a moment of sleep in the apartment for various reasons. To start, we did not open the doors or windows during our stay, yet my brother was literally covered in mosquito bites. I was spared the worst of it, but spent a the night listening to them buzz my ears. More frustrating, there is a dog, presumably Ruth’s, downstairs that begins its barking at 5:30am and does not relent. Paired with the construction site next door and what we assume is the local bus that drives the street starting at 7am and leans on the horn for about half an hour, almost comically, to notify people of its presence, we independently laid on the (rock hard) beds and stared at the ceiling for two nights. If you like being exhausted when you get out of bed in the morning, this is the place for you. The final bit of feedback is that while Ruth, the hosts mother, is very pleasant in a grandmotherly way, I did not need or want her checking in on us first thing each morning. A text message would be more than enough — poking your head through a stairwell and calling repeatedly until we respond was excessive. I booked a private residence for, well, privacy. All of these issues are fixable and I expect that Patricia will address them (likely in her response to this review). Nonetheless, we were dissatisfied with our stay and hope that the next guest will benefit from my review.
