It can be a bit nerve-wrecking, when checking-in to an unfamiliar rental property… nothing to worry about with the Cottage at Bernard’s Creek. The description and photos were perfectly representative of the property, and the home is beautifully decorated and appointed. Comfortable lounge furniture make for relaxing days, and the screened porch and firepit provide the perfect backdrop to peaceful / restful evenings.. The semi-rural setting sits far enough from the hustle-and-bustle to permit decompress, but close enough to dining, shopping & entertainment so as not to feel social disconnect. Delightful property & wonderful host, combine for a memorable vacation experience.

Everything about this house is so wonderful. Our family was there for a wedding at a nearby venue. Very generous amenities - even fresh firewood in the fire pit that was ready to go. Beautiful decor throughout the home and all of the beds were very comfortable. The large gas stone fireplace made the main living area very cozy and the gorgeous long dining table is the perfect gathering place! We loved it all. The only thing to note, the 4th bedroom is actually an extension of the master bedroom and you have to walk through the MB to get to that room. Would be great for a younger child near their parents. And a 3rd bathroom would be super helpful. Other than that is was just a lovely private oasis for our family to gather and enjoy. Great hosts!

Our group of seven thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The common areas are comfortable and made for nice together time. We were here for a wedding so the fire pit was wonderful to come back to on a chilly night for making of s’mores. There were so many extra touches that my kids and spouses all appreciated! Kay and Carter are the best!

This was a delightful stay. Beautiful property. Gracious hosts. Close to all the Richmond area offers yet secluded and peaceful. The master bed and pillows were truly magic. Highly recommend nature watching, the fire pit, the porch, and hanging out in the living room at sunset/dusk with the fire on (when in season). Solid hot water heater too. Loved it!

Kay was the most gracious host! The property is beautiful and peaceful. Just be careful locating the place because it is a sharp right turn. Even though you feel like you're in the country, the house is near local shopping and restaurants and about 30 minutes to downtown. Everything was clean and ready to use. She provided a bottle of wine and some eggs and juice for breakfast. The kitchen was well stocked. She has a book of local restaurants and businesses in the area. I wish we had time to enjoy the firepit! I would recommend staying here if you are in the Midlothian area of Richmond.
