This place was unbelievable, exactly what I needed for an off grid adventure, Jamie made sure to provide detailed instructions and had everything you could need for a stay in the desert. 10/10 would definitely stay again!

Stayed here 3 nights. First day hung out in Terlingua and relaxed. Second day did Santa Elena canyon hike. Third day did South Rim 14 mile trail through the Chisos Mountains. Coming back to the earth home after each day felt so good. This place is much more private and peaceful than the teepees, and domes in Terlingua. The house itself was more than we could have imagined. You can tell Jamie spent years creating this with passion. Truly a special place.

What a unique and beautiful location. This place is a perfect launching point to explore the area surrounding Big Bend. Jamie does an excellent job setting expectations for what you're getting with the home and it's unique nature. There were no surprises during our stay and all the instructions were very clear. There is something magical about sipping a beer at the end of the day after a long hike in the back rock garden under the stars or watching the sunrise with a coffee from the screened in porch. This place is clearly a labor of love and you'll love it too.

We were coming to camp at Big Bend National Park and required a place to stay before we could get our campsite. Seeking quiet and nature, Jamie’s place more than fit the bill. Additionally we were curious about a hand-built house and learned a lot from his example. We appreciated the delightful creativity of reused materials as well. Yes, it was a learning process for certain things that were new to us city-folks, but nothing onerous. The lighting was a little dim, but gave us no problems. My husband is super sensitive to sound, and found the (very cool) power inverter buzz a distraction for sleeping, but I didn’t notice it until he pointed it out. Overall it was a total win for us — comfortable, creative, lots of different kinds of spaces (we slept in the screened-in porch and enjoyed the warm night, the sound of crickets and birds, and the sunset and sunrise) — and we were excited to have it. Thank you Jamie.
