Comfortably sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, plus a further two guests on a 150cm wide sofa bed in the lounge. We are privileged to live in the Perigord National Park, the property is surrounded by forests and lakes. It offers guests a place to unwind from the stresses of life and relax in it's beautiful surroundings. The property is set in a total of 7 acres, from the pool area you look out over 5.5 acres of land edged by the Perigord forest. Chez Lucy is a comfortable base from where guests can either explore the surrounding areas of just relax with a book. In the lounge there are two sofas one of which is a large 1.5 mwide comfortable sofa bed. The television has both French and English channels. It also has a Blu ray player. Plus free high speed fibre. The kitchen is fully equipped with a electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, a Tassimo coffee machine, microwave, plus a fully stocked crockery/ pan cupboard. Kitchen towel and t towels are provided. There is use of a washing machine in the adjacent building, (limited to two wash loads per week), Intermarché has both washing machines and a tumble dryer, 3€ per wash including detergent. The bedrooms are light and bright, the beds have very comfortable mattresses and luxurious Laura Ashley bed linen, curtains, wallpaper and lamps. The duck egg blue bedroom has a shower with a rainfall or directional shower head, a handbasin and toilet. The pink bedroom has a large corner bath with shower attachment, handbasin and toilet. Towels, and bed linen are all provided. If guests are staying for longer then a week bedlinen/towels will be changed every seven days. The pool is for the sole use of the gite guests and it is not shared by anyone else. The garden and parking is also for the sole use of the gite guests and not shared. Garden Furniture, Sun loungers, parasols and BBQ are also provided. There is outside lighting which goes off automatically at midnight. It lights up the seating area on the terrace and the parking area. Pool towels are available at 5 euros per towel per stay, (as the white bathroom towels are not for the pool area). A travel cot and high chair are available at no extra cost. We live on site, (our cottage and garden is at the behind of the gite), with our dog Ralph who is very friendly and is fenced into his own garden. We are here to ensure you have a very enjoyable stay and if you need anything we can help or point you in the right direction. But we are also fully aware you are entitled to your privacy, so unless you need us we won’t disturb you. WHAT TO DO AND SEE. The road network is very good, we are easy to find just off of the D15 and Limoges airport is just a 40 minute drive. A new Intermarche supermarket is under a mile/2kms away and is ideal for stocking up the cupboards when you first arrive. We are situated 2Km from the historic town of Chalus, where the Chateau-de Chalus dominates the town. Historically, the castle offered protection from various approaches to LIMOGES. However, it is most famous for the death of King Richard the Lionheart, who died there from a crossbow wound which was fired during a siege to the castle in 1199. A great place for Leisure activities, Relaxing or House Hunting. The small town has lots to offer with Bars, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Banks, Hairdressers, Beauty Parlours, Newsagents, Bakery, Butchers, Weekly Markets and an Open Air Swimming Pool (in season). Local bicycle hire is available,where you can cycle along the Voie Verte to Oradore Sur Vayers, stopping at villages en-route. There are a variety of Leisure Lakes with beaches, with the closest being at BUSSIERE GALANT, just a 10 minute drive. It boasts GO APE for the juniors and adults, a huge ZIP WIRE crossing the Lake. Crazy Golf, Velocity Rail, Beach and Cafe. If you enjoy a high speed thrill there is an excellent GO KARTING track just 5 minutes drive away. 10 minutes by car you can explore the beautiful DORDOGNE, where historic caves are on offer. The stunning and most popular tourist town of BRANTOME is just 1 hours drive away, overlooking the RIVER DRONNE with its pleasure boat rides, a place well worth a visit. Walkers and Cyclists may also be interested in which is also en route is the famous CAMIO-DE-SANTIAGO (way of st. James) starting from VEZELAY, FRANCE. The medieval town of LIMOGES is just 25 mins by car or bus located nearby, with PERIGUEUX in the Dordogne being 1 hour away. Both Cities well worth exploring, with numerous Bars and Restaurants to suit all tastes. LIMOGES also has an excellent Zoo. There are numerous pretty villages, stunning Castles and Chateau's to explore nearby and ORADOUR-SUR-GLANE'S Museum to 2nd World War. Keen fishermen can access numerous Lakes and Pond's in the vicinity, or alternativley you can just sit in lovely peaceful surroundings, eating local produce, relaxing with a glass of wine or two!
