PARADISE FOUND The Taj Majahual, a private luxury villa, is situated in one of the world’s most untraveled beach locations on México’s beautiful Yucatán Peninsula in the eastern state of Quintana Roo. It is located in the intimate community of Placer, where sky and sea merge, and soft creamy sand is kissed by the ebb of sparkling clear aqua-colored water. This romantically remote residence caters to those who wish to ‘hammock’ and beachcomb their days in paradise. For those who seek an active agenda, a world-class coral reef is located very close to shore, the Taj Majahual is a short 25 minute drive from the seaside town of Mahahual. The bustling city of Cancún is a 4-hour drive. Both offer a myriad of maritime and tropical adventures, as well as shopping, dining, and sight-seeing. We can accommodate up to 10 guests in four spacious rooms. The Family Room offers ocean vistas from three sides and features locally crafted furniture. The sofa and love seat are hand crafted out of bamboo with cushions covered with vibrant imported fabric. There are also two artisan made barrel chairs constructed of local equipal and are finished with padded leather seats and arm rests. The room is appointed with original oil paintings, terra cotta pottery and a fossil-laden limestone shelf. French doors open off of this room onto the Master Terrace, where you will find sweeping views of the ocean. There are ceiling fans and floors of handmade Saltillo tile, spotted with Hand-painted Talavera tile throughout the master space. The residence is designed to have flow through cross ventilation, and all upper level bedrooms feature optional air conditioning. Two conveniently located palapas beckon those who wish to lounge or picnic under the shelter they offer. Lie in bed and enjoy the ocean view. Ample storage is provided in the handmade closet and dresser. There is a dressing table in the bedroom. Bath decor brings in the pearlescent beauty of the bedroom by using white and black pearlescent tile. The bath features a Jacuzzi tub - big enough for two - with a hand shower. The balcony door opens onto the main balcony that is shared with the living area. THE JUNGLE ROOM This room is inspired by the Costa Maya - where the jungle meets the sea. Step out of the jungle room onto your own private balcony overlooking the Caribbean and you'll see how the room imitates nature. The Jungle Bedroom features a private entrance, private bathroom, use of the plunge pool and of common areas, a private ocean-front balcony, queen-size pillow top bed, writing desk, closet with drawers, cube fridge, wireless internet. SALUTA DE FRUTA This bedroom surrounds you with a warm palette of “delectably” tropical fruit colors and accents. Enjoy a good night’s sleep on one of the two full size beds, both with pillow top mattresses. The room and custom closet and dresser can accommodate 4 if the beds are shared. Furniture in this room is made of local bamboo, all hand made in the area. Handmade Talavera lamps accent the “mouth-watering” fruit motif of the room. As with all the bedrooms at Taj Majahual, this room includes a refrigerator and safe, as-well-as a ceiling fan for added comfort. The bath area features a Talavera sink in a fruit pattern, locally made and designed mirror, imported hardware, and an ultra filtered drinking water faucet. Enjoy the oceanfront balcony outside, complete with 2 comfortable lounge chairs, end table, and hammock. BEACHY CEVICHE A cocktail of old world appointments marinating with festive beach elements brings you our version of 'Beachy Ceviche." Available to the discriminating beach bum in all of us, it features a queen size bed with pillowtop mattress, refrigerator, and handmade “Rustico” armoire, table, nightstands, and headboard, all handcrafted by local artists of indigenous Tzalam. Far and above the most whimsical bedroom in the villa, it is downstairs and oceanfront, just steps from the sand. The floor is done mosaic style. Deconstructed hand-made Saltillo and hand-painted Talavera tiles pieced together by a master mason creates a mesmerizing pattern. This style of tilework sets a playful stage for the rest of the bedroom. As with all bedrooms at the Taj Majahual, Beachy Ceviche features a ceiling fan and refrigerator for your added comfort. An attached bath is done in fun beach colors and includes a walk-in shower, Talavera sink in an ocean motif, and a filtered drinking water faucet. Its décor centers around a delightful fish motif that is accomplished with hand painted tiles. This room is not air conditioned but has large windows and is only steps from the world’s largest air conditioner – the ocean – Eco-luxurious!
