We had a wonderful time experiencing the ancient times of living in an original cave house. Stefanias accommodation was super clean and neat, equipped with everything needed, including coffee and tea. Our host was super helpful and good to reach; she picked us up personally and led the way to our apartment whilst giving advise on where to have dinner and what to do in the city. One needs to know that living in a cave can be a bit narrow and cold, likewise dark as only window exists. Though we can absolutely recommend trying out this unique experience! Matera is worth seeing.

The location could not be better. It was easy to get everywhere from the suite. What was missing for me was the upkeep of the unit. You had to lift the bathroom door to open and close it…which was quite difficult likely due to the humidity…but the door could have been filed to fit. The kitchen faucet is very loose. The front door handle almost fell off the first time we tried to leave. The mattress is thin and lumpy. A toaster would be a nice addition. The light by the bed did not allow for reading. They are all small things but overall they make a difference. We enjoyed our cave experience in general despite what I listed above. Location is everything in Matera!
