As described: A stay in a real Porto apartment. Walking distance to the river and downtown. An excellent way to get a feel for really being here rather than passing through as a tourist. Very responsive host. A good choice.

We had a very pleasant stay in Porto. The place is spacious and comfortable, full of endearing retro tchotchkes to preserve its “grandma’s house” character, and everything in working order. The location can’t be beat: we walked everywhere except Foz do Douro. Cris and Joaquin clearly take a lot of pride in their home and their city; they greet guests with a tasty treat and a wealth of local tips. Bathrobes and slippers are a really nice touch! Happy to recommend this place; just in case you have mobility issues, be aware that the living room and kitchen are on the first floor, and the bedrooms and bathroom are on the second.

A truly traditional Porto home in the historic area, close to the river. Lots of special extras, and a very comfortable bed. The hosts, Christina and Joaquin, are without doubt the most generous and hospitable hosts I have encountered.

Christina's place is the perfect spot to stay while exploring historic Porto. It looked exactly like the pictures. I received a warm welcome on the day I arrived along with a helpful map and recommendations for sites to see and restaurants to check out. Quick walk to the Rua das flores and beyond as well as the Ribeira District and the bridge to Gaia.

This stay wasn’t worth 5 stars. It was worth 2.5-3 stars. The front door lock was an issue on multiple occasions, dishes weren’t that clean, and the heat was only on for a couple of hours and controlled entirely by the host. I’m anemic and when I expressed that my body naturally tuns cold I was criticized and told that no other American or Portuguese person is cold at this temperature. We didn’t really have much to complain about to her so this was the only thing. The host’s husband randomly walked in one night with no communication which had my friend and I scared at first but understand the sentiment since he was just dropping off some necessities. The bedding was damp when we got there which was pretty uncomfortable. The biggest thing was that the entire unit was incredibly cold for both an anemic and non anemic (who likes the cold!). Please ensure that those who are staying are informed. A positive was that they had so many recommendations which came in handy when exploring Porto.
