We were on the “fennel” houseboat- it was fantastic- it was an amazing, relaxing and wonderful experience! The vessel was super clean, very comfortable, and smooth! The 3 member crew were very attentive and wonderful- catered to anything we requested and would periodically check on us if we needed anything. The food!- wow it was amazing- in variety, flavor and quantity! Very comfortable large beds made for a nice sound sleep!

The houseboat, run by spice route travels, was lovely. It was clean, elegantly done up, and the staff was courteous. We benefited from good weather and enjoyed watching the beautiful backwaters. Our experience could have been even better if we were given better information of what to expect. Then we could have curated our experience a bit better. Just sharing what to expect for meals, what can be pre ordered, what are the limitations on a houseboat, etc would have helped.

Spice Routes is the best houseboat in Kerala and there's absolutely no match for them. The rooms are beautiful, very clean, and with good amenities making one forget you are on a boat! The boat was very stable and the staff was friendly with the chef very accomodating to the food requests. The meal options are a plenty and a treat for seafood lovers. They helped us do last minute grocery shopping on the boat and suggested a halt at an Ayurvedic centre. Do ask them for trying fresh locally prepared toddy albeit at a charge. Areas to improve: - A little more proactive to understand the needs - A full description of what one can do nearby including charges, like hiring a mini boat - White light in rooms - Better breakfast options especially for vegetarians - A good signboard near their office to indicate the location as the Maps points to the boats, not the parking/checkin office

Beautiful place to stay & enjoy the backwaters of Kerala. The staff on board was very courteous & helpful during our stay. The food served on board felt homely and authentic Kerala style. We would highly recommend for a quality, relaxed and authentic stay in God’s own country !!

We loved our stay at the Fennel houseboat. I was traveling with my wife, her parents and my parents. The 3 bedrooms had sufficient space, amenities and were well furnished. We also loved the overall ambience and design of the houseboat interiors. The views through the large windows overlooking the tranquil waters were just too beautiful to behold. The boat had a very nice blend of modern and traditional design elements. It was pretty humid when we visited (December) so the air conditioning was a welcome relief. The food was amazing and freshly cooked on the boat. Hot water was available as well. The boat staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were very proactive to our needs and also notified us about our misplaced phone after checking out. I would recommend clarifying and researching the road/route to the houseboat location well in advance. When we visited (Dec 2022) there was a lot of construction going on which added to some confusion. Overall, we strongly recommend it!
