There are places in this world that make for a great vacation, some that impress, some that inspire. And then there are the truly special places that leave their mark, subtly - or dramatically - change you and how you walk through the world. Arctic Hideaway was that for me. No restaurants, no "activities", no walking tours. Just a magical space in a pristine location to just be. The combination of private and communal space struck the right balance of solitude without loneliness. I feel profoundly grateful to have stayed here. Takk, Havar!
A gorgeous experience like no other. It’s a community-style/pod setup. The pods to sleep in are quite small but very cozy. The food is challenging as there is a big pantry with food that all has to be prepared. There is breakfast and dinner prepared but it’s pretty small and if you have dietary restrictions there are little to no alternatives. Be aware of your flights & ferry schedule, I wasn’t able to find any information on the ferry beforehand, and because it was so vague I assumed the ferry schedule would be easy to get back to the airport. This was a huge mistake and it turned out there was no ferry to take me to the airport so I had to buy a new expensive flight to work with the schedule. I think I think there needs to be a clear guest guide that is sent out upon booking that gives very detailed information for arrival and departure and rules/info when on site. The space is very laissez-faire, almost to a fault where you’re not totally sure what’s happening most of the time.
For anyone who loves nature or is looking to be inspired by people or a place, this is it. I've had such a magical time during my week here of swimming under the Northern lights after heavenly saunas, getting to know the lovely locals, getting to dive into some long neglected creative projects and diving into fascinating conversations with other guests from three continents, I've extended my stay with no fixed departure date. This place is transformational in every sense, and I'll certainly be back.
An absolutely incredible experience. The Arctic Hideaway was everything I hoped for and more. Communication before, during, and after was great. Everyone was so welcoming and kind from the hosts to the other guests to the locals on the island. Every meal was amazing and made even more special by the company with which it was shared. I swam in the Norwegian Sea, saw the northern lights from my bedroom window, and slept like a baby. The island itself is magical. I only wish I had stayed longer! It is an inspiring creation. Thank you for such a beautiful experience!
super lovely!! The idea of The Arctic Hideaway is so beautiful, you experience the world with different eyes, talk to the other guests from all the world and have a nice conversation. The locals are also so sweet and kind. I come from a big city where life is so fast but here it is so slow. I feel like I have so much time. The nature here is incredible, you live on a small island somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I wish I could stay longer💗

Welcome to the Arctic Hideaway, a very special cluster of tiny houses the arctic norwegian archipelago Fleinvær, outside city Bodø. Our place is an architecturally playful and stunning collection of eleven individual buildings, where five are sleeping cabins. The shared areas are the iconic tower house , the kitchen house, the studio building, the bath house, the crab trap (a shelter for outdoor cooking) and the sauna. Periods for offering cabins for rent on Airbnb will vary, as we also have direct booking through email. The Arctic Hideaway is an experience like few others. Our space is as much as a mindset as it is a physical location — a place to unplug and unwind. It is a place that will give you visual tranquillity and no noise. It is truly a transformative experience staying here. Simplicity at its finest gives the opportunity to explore the art of doing nothing. The whole compound can sleep up to 10 guests. It is an ideal location for retreats and workshop!
