This vacation oasis is a feast for the eyes & balm for your soul. Built by an artist, The Dream Shack is a wonderland of creative discovery & environmentally friendly sanctuary. This peaceful getaway is on 15 acres of secluded Hill Country woodlands with a wet weather creek, trails & room to explore. The Dream Shack is full of artistic touches & creative use of materials. The pavilion is a lovely outdoor living area/ kitchen with fridge, cooktop, grill, tables, chairs, bartop & hammock. This beautiful property has a wildlife pond, hilltop views and a valley with preserved native habitat, a creek and many Legacy oak trees. Dark skies at night provide great stargazing. The native habitat makes it a birders paradise and nature lovers dream. The property is a wildlife habitat certified by the National Wildlife Federation. Wander the trails, enjoy the meadow and when we have enough rain you can cool off in the creek. Painted buntings and hummingbirds are among the many species that live here as well as rare species such as Golden-cheeked warblers, Texas barberry and Texas Madrone trees. The Dream Shack has 5 beds so can sleep 8 and is ideal for families and small groups as well as couples and individuals, with three beds upstairs and 2 downstairs, a trundle bed. There is a hammock in the pavilion and another hammock in the yard under the oaks. The large, luxurious, mosaic shower has a bench seat. There is a full kitchen and outdoor kitchen with commercial stove in the adjacent pavilion with 4 large burners as well as a propane grill and large fridge. You also have a big wood fired smoker grill to use in the outdoor grilling area. Firewood is provided by the host. Coffee options. Choose between a French press or 12 cup pot based on your needs. The downstairs bathroom has a solar toilet and the upstairs toilet is electric. WiFi and Bluetooth speaker with FM radio are provided. you are surrounded by art and creative touches indoors and out. Communication with host is required for use of the Fire pit for fire safety.

We lived our time at Kathleen s place. Our grandsons age 10 & 7 were excited to see fire flies and enjoyed roaming the nature reserve. We enjoyed talking with Kathleen and learned so much about the history of the area. The house is an artist haven and one of a kind. Full of many creative design surprises. We will definitely return.

The Dream Shack is balm to my soul! Such a restorative and relaxing place to get away from it all! This was such a wonderful place to stay, and Kathleen is an absolute remarkable host! I'm so thankful that my family was able to have this experience. Our hearts are truly full from such an immersive artistic experience! Words will never be able to describe how inspirational, intricate, and moving her artwork is! We left feeling a sense of renewed creativity and with new tools in our belt for our own future creations. The home itself is beautiful, clean, cozy, peaceful, and comfortable. Kathleen's property is a nature-lover's dream! My family is so grateful for the time we got to spend visiting with Kathleen and we loved each story she shared with us! We all felt like we made a new friend, and we can't wait to come back and visit someday! Kathleen, thank you for sharing so much of your wisdom of all of your life's true passions! This trip was a real treasure!

It's impossible to capture this place in pictures. The Dream Shack and the property are full of endless surprises: art, decorative touches, wildlife, flowers and fossils. There is tons of beauty and places to visit in the area but you don't even need to leave the property in order to get the best of the Hill Country. Pedernales Falls State Park is extremely close by. Texas will put on a show for you here. and Kathleen is an exquisite human being stewarding this piece of land. You will be blessed to meet her.

We loved our stay at the Dream Shack! We spent our time here exploring the beautiful property, grilling, listening to music, playing board games, and being one with nature. Kathleen was a lovely host, and we’d love to visit again soon!

We had a wonderful stay at Kathleen’s place. My kids loved hiking the trials she has made. My son loved looking up at the stars every night. Kathleen was very kind and welcoming. We can’t wait to visit again some day.

The Dream Shack is a wonderland of creative discovery and an environmentally friendly, fun sanctuary with outdoor kitchen and living space. This peaceful getaway is nestled among live oaks on 15 acres of secluded Hill Country woodlands with a wet weather creek, trails and room to explore the hills and valley. Hunting for fossils while hiking or exploring is fun. Dark skies at night show off millions of stars while frogs and owls serenade you. Birds, butterflies, fireflies and wildflowers abound in seaon and views from the hilltops are stellar. There are several outdoor seating areas for relaxing, a special bench for viewing the sunrise and chairs on the hilltops for watching the sunset or taking in the view. The hammocks are nice for napping or stargazing.
