The Retreat is een prachtig klein huisje, van alle luxe voorzien en met een schitterend uitzicht. Het ligt wel net naast een groot huis met zwembad, waar tijdens ons verblijf een bruiloftsgroep in zat en waar, vanzelfsprekend, wat gefeest werd. Dat vonden wij wat minder, maar de communicatie hierover was heel makkelijk en we kregen gelijk een ander huis op het terrein aangeboden. De familie is heel vriendelijk en gastvrij, ze gaan met je om alsof je al lang bevriend met ze bent. We voelden ons echt in de watten gelegd door hun service. Zeker een aanrader dus. Het eiland is prachtig en de huizen liggen rustig, maar toch op 15 minuten lopen van het dorp met winkels en restaurants.

Just 10 driving-minutes away from the port, we reached our final destination of our greek trip - On the Rocks - The Retreat. We had a great and very clean appartment with a really stunning view of the little bay with beach Paralia Valmas. To reach the beach, you have to walk 5 minutes down a stony path (dont forget anything in your room ;)). The bay is very beautiful and you have cristal clear water, so take you diving/swimming goggles with you. There are hardly any people and we often had the beach for ourselves. For breakfast we got a fresh basket of different pastries, including croissants, bread and sesam sticks, which all were delicious. I really enjoyed the honey and the homemade fig jam. We also harvested fresh fig from the trees surrounding us every morning. There is a well- done and maintained Boccia/Boule field that is free to use aswell as nice infinity pools on the property. The owners are really nice and took care of all our needs. Highly recommendable! Thanks for everything, Paul and Johanna

A beautiful place, and lovely hosts. On The Rocks is the perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Ios - with easy access to idyllic beaches, and the main town, it doesn’t get any better. The Retreat was perfect, with everything you need to make your stay unforgettable. We really hope to return one day! Thank you Yiannis and Emmanuela (and the whole team) for being kind and welcoming :)

We had the pleasure to spend a week at On The Rocks in early November 2020, a few weeks after the usual end of the season. There was a particular atmosphere on the island, since a second lockdown had just begun in Greece, and due to the circumstances, we were offered an upgrade - as such, I can’t comment directly on the apartment that we actually booked. The place is ideally located - a quiet spot on a beautiful island, with an amazing view out to the open sea, about 15 minutes walk to Chora. The villa was furnished with great care and attention to detail, at once elegant and very comfortable to spend time in. There was every kind of appliance that we might have needed. Giannis and Emmanuela were likewise great hosts. Communication was straightforward and they made us feel very welcome, with a genuine spirit of hospitality. One tip for future guests: there’s a nice beach (Valmas) just down from the villas but Kolitsani beach, about 15 minutes walk away, is really idyllic. The main access is from the other side of Chora, but it’s also possible to get to Kolitsani directly from On The Rocks. The path is official and easy to walk down but quite difficult to find. It’s worth hunting it out as the beach in a beautiful bay that’s sheltered from the prevailing northerly winds - a great spot for swimming, even in November! In short, we had a fantastic stay and I would recommend On The Rocks without reservation to anyone considering a visit to Ios!

Beautiful house on top of a little hill with amazing views to the sea, Santorini on the horizon. Both the house the whole property is just perfect for some quite and relaxing days on Ios. There is a path from the house down to an incredibly nice beach. Many trail path around the house with views to the sea. Perfect for relaxing 😊
