In the grounds of a turreted 15th century château - featured in a number of homes & interiors magazines - this beautifully converted, spacious, former stables & turreted tower is set in glorious gardens with views over our 10-acre truffle orchard. Full of character and charm, thick local limestone stone walls keep the house cool in summer yet cosy during the colder, truffle-hunting months. The covered terrace is perfect for alfresco dining and has an uninterrupted view of the gardens. Utterly private, it is the setting of La Fuye which makes it such a special place to stay. The Stables and Tower are hidden away from the outside world, yet only 6km from Chinon. The beautiful walled garden is scattered with large, shady oaks and limes. Within it you will find rolling lawns perfect for a game of croquet, a terrace, a heated swimming pool (fitted with a regulation French pool alarm, but pls note - as the photos show - it is unfenced which we feel makes it unsuitable for those with young children), our beautiful hens (their organic eggs, when available, are given to guests) and a free-ranging peacock. We also have our own bee hives, producing delicious honey for you to enjoy during your stay. A heavily scented, formal rose garden sits opposite the front door and cut flowers are provided in all bedrooms during the months we have blooms in the garden. You also have access to the 10-acre truffle orchard. The interior of the Stables and Tower has been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards, combining artwork and antiques with beautiful fabrics and vintage finds: think atmospheric and characterful but with plenty of mod cons. All bathrooms feature Lefroy Brooks showers. We’re also really into cleaning and even use UV light to make sure the space is sparkling! If you are a group of 8, please note that two of the guests will be accommodated in the fully self-contained East Tower of the main château, just across the courtyard. This 15th century turreted hideaway has its own entrance, via a stone staircase and a pretty sheltered terrace that offers breathtaking views over the château’s working truffle orchard. Internally, the Tower has a circular, beamed double bedroom - featuring a luxurious roll top bath - on the top floor and a sitting room/study below. The Tower is approximately 25 meters from the Stables.
