We booked a staycation over Easter and enjoyed very much to be in a different surrounding, in Sheung Wan. The rooftop terrace is the highlight of the place and we made use of it quite a bit as the weather was perfect. Many nice restaurants are close by, so we didn’t bother to cook at all. The place itself was in perfect condition and nicely decorated. Julie’s instructions were very helpful and I also appreciated that she made space for our belongings (although we travelled very light - something I would recommend as it makes the walk up to her place much easier).

The place is clean, small but well cut and Julie made space for our stuff. The bed was comfy and duvet warm enough for winter days. The biggest surprise was that to actually reach the building a lot of stairs had to be climbed as it’s up a hill, plus the 6 floors to the apartment. A taxi can only stop 2 steep flights of stairs down. So it’s most enjoyable if you have a small piece of luggage. The scaffolding was still on which Julie communicated and makes the place quite dark but since it was CNY no work was conducted. The place is equipped with kitchen stuff but we didn’t find a fruit knife or kettle to boil hot water, given it was quite cold that would have been nice. No heating for HK winter days. For people who are allergic or have sensitive skin it should be flagged that it’s quite damp in the apartment and is on the edge of having mold issues. We used the dehumidifier a lot that was in the apartment. The internet is choppy - but that’s because it’s an old building.

The apartment is in an old style Hong Kong building on the fifth floor, located in a convenient location for restaurants, shopping, transport and sight-seeing. You feel like you are living like a local in a place typical of accommodation on Hong Kong island, built on steep slopes with a lot of steps. Despite being in the metropolis, it is quiet. We enjoyed walking from the front door: to the iconic Peak and walked the famous hike called Bisect the Frog. Julie is a great host and we are very happy to have stayed there. She did forewarn us the building is currently under some maintenance work and the place would probably be even better when it is finished.

Wonderful host! Great communication. Very helpful and friendly with suggestions and very timely with answering questions. I do agree with some posting here that the Wifi does drop and is a bit frustrating at times. Also the listing states that there is a dryer and washer, but it is a combo and did not work for me, so dried clothes up on rooftop which was very lovely.
