Nestled in the quiet hamlet of Atlow, close to Carsington Water. Finished to an extremely high standard with modern kitchen / diner & large lounge. With open countryside around you it's an ideal base to explore. Sleeps up to 24 (16 adults & the rest children) in 8 bedrooms, 6 en suites / shared bathrooms. Dog friendly. We charge an ADDITIONAL £30 PER DOG for the duration of your stay & can accept up to 3 dogs. Fabulous family house, not a party venue. A picturesque and modern property completely rebuilt to offer a large and spacious 8 bedroom property for you and your family and friends to stay. With large social rooms on the ground floor and light and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms it's a real home from home house. Located in a quiet and tucked away hamlet it's perfect for those people that just want to totally unwind for their stay. Open countryside surrounds you so perfect for hiking or biking, a short 5 minute drive to the ever popular Carsington Water and also the market town of Ashbourne which is only a 8 minute drive away. You enter the property into a light and spacious hallway, which takes you to the ground floor social areas and also a couple of the bedrooms. Double doors leads you into the living room , basked in plenty of natural light with windows dotted around the room, plus sliding doors taking you to the outside. A stunning space with an opulent, large corner sofa dominating the room but offering a cosy feel in front of the log burner in the centre of the room. There are 2 further smaller sofas positioned to the side of the room - making an ideal area for the kids to gather or a quieter spot to sit and read. When leaving the lounge you then have 2 of the 8 bedrooms, the first bedroom is bedroom 2 and this can sleep up to 4 as there is an option of a double that can also be a twin plus a set of bunk beds, there is an en suite to this room too. Next to this room is a compact room, Bedroom 1, still boasting a king size double that can also be a twin with an en suite. There is a handy downstairs toilet with basin leading from the hallway. Towards the other side of the house you have an utility room, with sink area, washing machine and tumble dryer, plus an extra under the counter fridge too. There is a door leading to the outside making it an ideal entrance to take off muddy boots and bring the dogs in this way after a day outdoors. At the end of the house is the stunning modern kitchen / diner, well equipped with modern appliances and finished to a high standard. The owners have certainly thought of everything you might need whilst staying away from home. There is a large dining table that can comfortably seat up to 22. One of the main features of this house is light, there is no shortage of it and this room certainly offers this too, the bi fold doors can be opened to a balcony where there is a large dining table with parasol, fabulous views and a BBQ. Taking the stairs to the first floor you have the further 5 bedrooms. Each decorated in their own unique style, they are all good sized rooms. There is a Jack and Jill bathroom that bedrooms 3 and 4 share and this has a bath with shower attachment above , toilet and basin. Bedrooms 5 and 6 share the large, striking family bathroom, with huge bath, large walk in shower, toilet and basin all finished in a modern, clean and crisp white suite. Bedrooms 5 and 6 can sleep up to 4, both feature a Super King size bed that can be a double or twin and there is also a set of bunk beds in each room. Bedroom 8 is the family room that can sleep 4 a large room with a huge window to make the most of the stunning views. This room can be a double or twin and incorporated in the room is a side, compact room that still allows a king size bed which can be a double or twin- so ideal for young children. The en suite is impressive - a large teardrop bath sits next to the window, with a corner shower, basin and toilet, finished to a high standard this really is a luxury bathroom. The grounds of the property wrap around the house, landscaped gardens, offer a relaxing setting to sit and enjoy the quieter areas of the property or let some steam off on the lawn opposite the house, which is also planted with apple trees. The driveway is gravelled and there are double gates making the area secure, but we would still advise you to never leave dogs or children unattended. There is a secure garage so bringing bikes and scooters is also an option. There is ample parking and we say that 8 cars fit easily but you could get in more if willing to block each other in. There is a BBQ for your use whilst at the property and we do ask that you supply your own charcoal and lighting equipment as this is not provided.
The house was wonderful and the space was perfect, spacious, very clean, light and airy with wonderful views. Despite big numbers (17 overnight and several visiting family we didn’t feel cramped at anytime! We contacted hosts twice with questions and they were instantly responsive. We were able to go for two big walks in the fabulous Peak District and we had the best family reunion at Hillcroft
Hillcroft is a beautiful place to stay! We were a group of 12 so the house was plenty big enough for all of us and the layout of the rooms worked perfectly. Nice big lounge and dining table for socialising and plenty of parking as we had quite a few cars. It would have been nice if there was a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa when we arrived and the some of the beds were a but lumpy but otherwise it was excellent. I'd definitely recommend staying there if you have a big group and we'd definitely book again if we were heading that way.
Hillcroft is located just 8 minutes away to the market town of Ashbourne. With its medieval street layout and cobbled market place this town is a great day out with plenty to see and do. With an array of different shops to browse, and cafes to enjoy you should be able to please all the family!
You are not far from many stately homes too, with Chatsworth House, Kedlestone Hall, Sudbury Hall, Tissington Hall and Hardwick Hall all being virtually on your doorstep it couldn't be easier to drive out to these and enjoy a wander round and take in the history that they all offer.
A family favourite day out has to be at Carsington Water, just a short 5 minute drive away this water based activity venue is perfect for all those enthusiasts out there. Offering sailing, cycle hire, all types of water sports, sign posted walks it really doesn't matter if your are an experienced water lover or just trying things for the first time, Carsington can cater for all your needs. With a great cafe and ice cream parlour on site too - why do you need to go anywhere else?
Alton Towers is a 30 minute drive away - an extremely popular tourist theme park - for those people who love the adrenaline of riding on the new and exciting rides that Alton Towers constantly keeps providing. With a CBeebies area for the younger ones it caters for children of all ages.
We recommend travelling by car to the venue, with it being located in a small hamlet, public transport is limited to this area.
There is parking at the venue and easily fits in 8 cars, you may get more into the space if you are willing to block each other in.
The nearest train station is Duffield, which is a 20 minute drive and unmanned so tickets need to be bought beforehand or on the train from the guard. Trains run south to Derby and north ending at Matlock. If you are wanting a larger service then you will need to travel in Derby train station which is a 30 minute drive away.
The nearest bus station is in Ashbourne but a local bus will take you from Atlow to Ashbourne
The nearest Airport is East Midlands.
