The Country house LA FENICE E IL LUPO is located in the hamlet Serrabernacchia which is one of the many hamlets that form the municipality of Genga. In Serrabernacchia we are just 9 permanent inhabitants, while the whole municipality located in the Natural Park of the FRASASSI caves counts 1700 souls.
The location is ideal for a quiet and relaxing holidays, surrounded by nature, though just 5 minutes drive away from the town of Sassoferrato, where all kind of services can be found, from hospital to banks, from supermarkets to restaurants.
The nearest airports are ANCONA-MARCHE or PERUGIA, both 45 minutes drive away. The closest Railway Station is Fabriano, a 20 minutes drive.
However we recommend to come with your car.
A rich wild fauna and flora can be discovered, and every season has its own charm.
Hiking, mountain biking, rock-climbing, or just walking between forest and farmed fields are straight forward outdoor activities. The natural caves of Frasassi are a must see, but do not disregard the castle of Genga and the medieval Abbeys all around.
If you are particularly adventurous, you can go out of the beaten path and explore the deeper caves leaded by exert speleologists.
Collecting fruits and edible plants depending on the season is a relaxing way to enjoy and learn about nature.
From wild asparagus and fennels, to truffle and mushrooms, hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts, wild cherries and strawberries, wild berries, wild apples and pears, prunes, figs and a lot more can be found just along the roads. It easy to see wild animals, deers come often to eat in front of our door. A Fox smells when our neighbour is baking pizza and comes to get a piece, squirrels, eagles, falcons, badgers, porcupines and wolves can be heard and seen, if you are patient and quiet and are led to the appropriate locations by local guides. If you come in summer and are looking forward to a refreshing bath you have the clean rivers to go to. You will find small beaches, natural pools or shaded areas within the gorges and forests of the park. Though if you wish to see some "more" water the Adriatic Sea is 40 minutes drive away. The closest sand beach is Senigallia, but the Natural Park of Conero Mountain with its coves and transparent waters, is a little more than one hour away. If you like skiing, in winter the Sibillini Mountains can be reached in 2 hours. Snow walking is possible in the mountain close to us, San Vicino, Montecucco and Monte Catria.

The most enjoyable time is relaxing with some snacks and a good glass of wine on your balcony, veranda, terrace or our garden.
