The Steamboat House, circa 1853, is located on the historic El Camino Real (The King's Highway) in the Natchitoches National Historic Landmark District, directly across Jefferson Street from the Cane River. Natchitoches, established by the French in 1714, is the oldest permanent European settlement in the wider geographic area involved in the Louisiana Purchase. The Steamboat House offers 4 private bedrooms, each with their own private, full bath. Downstairs accommodations offer a spacious queen suite and bath with garden tub and separate shower. Upstairs accommodations offer a spacious, double queen suite and bath with a claw foot tub, a single queen suite and bath with a tub and shower combination, and a double twin suite and bath with shower. A queen, inflatable air mattress is available if needed and can be placed in the living room when in use. Shared interior spaces include open concept living, dining, and kitchen areas. Shared exterior spaces are fully furnished and include a first story covered porch, second story covered balcony, and an outdoor brick courtyard.
As always me and my family were treated as family. We have truly had the best family memories made at this beautiful location. Again thank you Barry.
We had an outstanding visit at the Steamboat House. Was perfect for our group gathering for a high school reunion. Comfortable, well appointed, clean and perfectly located to Front St and the Cane River as well as a short drive to LSMSA.
It was a wonderful home for a girls weekend! We had 10 girls for a relaxing weekend and everyone slept comfortably and had a fantastic time!
As always this home sits perfectly with anyone who steps foot in. My family and I had an incredible stay at the Steamboat. And as always we are looking forward to staying again in the spring. Barry thanks again for being an outstanding host ❤️ Angell
Views of the Cane River can be enjoyed from the large and well furnished upper and lower porches of the Steamboat House. From the front door of the Steamboat House it's a quick walk to restaurants, shopping, spas, galleries, Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, nightlife, riverfront park , and historic Front Street, still paved with its original brick.
Due to the proximity of the Steamboat House to many of the sites you will be enjoying during your stay in Natchitoches, walking is the recommended mode of transportation, but if you prefer to drive there is ample complimentary parking in the downtown area.
