To begin with, the address led us to the wrong location which wasn't very nice late at night. The unit wasn't very clean, there was a hair on the bed. The sheets were changed for us the next day. There is a threatening note above the sink saying if you leave dirty dishes, you will be charged, however we had to wash the dishes before we used them as they were sitting in the cupboard dirty and had pools of water in them.
The Camp is perfectly located near some great biking and walking trails.

Come Glamp at The Camp Situated just an hour from Queenstown, The Camp at Lake Hawea is your quintessential Kiwi camping experience. Think beautifully basic facilities and a sense of community right on the shores of Lake Hawea – the third lake that makes up the Southern Lakes region – and the most beautiful according to the owners. Why not escape the rat race and come glamping – camping with the comforts and luxuries of home. The love and passion of Sarah and Richard Burdon, who also own nearby Glen Dene Station, is evident as The Camp aims to provide affordable camping and glamping options to reconnect people back to nature and to create memories that will last forever. “In the age of smart phones and social media, we often forget to immerse ourselves in nature, go for a fish, a walk or a bike ride and just soak up our surroundings. Camping has been a Kiwi institution for years and our glamping is opening up a whole new tribe of campers – those who want to camp without the hassle of pitching a tent,” says Sarah. From Bell Rise to Denver Cove, all of The Camp’s glamping options have access to their own shared Mess (dining) tent with basic kitchen and dining set up all under cover. The privately located Safari Tent is an extra special offering with privacy, a secluded location and stunning lake and mountain views. Perfect for that romantic getaway. Also available are the owner’s holiday homes (located offsite) and the picturesque country-style cottages which are fully self-contained and nestled amid the Camp forest. The on-site Food Truck means guests can get their barista coffee every morning, a breakfast bagel or in the evenings the truck offers good old camping fare and Sundays is Pizza Night, where everyone comes together in traditional camping style for a chat and a feed. Lake Hawea is a hidden gem and a private, peaceful lake town close to Wanaka, the West Coast and an hour from Queenstown Airport. So pack your weekend bag and come Gather at The Camp.
