Caylus · 整套民居 · 5室8床3.0卫 · 可住10人 · Renovated Presbytery with delightful pool
Located in a wonderfully quiet spot this former presbytery accommodates 10-12 persons. The property is newly renovated, beautifully finished and ideal for two families with children. A stone wall encloses the property, its charming garden and its impressive pool (11m x 5.5m). Two terraces and an outdoor covered eating area with barbecue allow rural views in a delightful area of SW France, ideal for cycling, walking and kayaking. A rich cultural and culinary heritage awaits you. On three floors are four double bedrooms, three bathrooms, a games room, a sitting room and a spacious kitchen lounge. It is situated in possibly the most beautiful rural area of SW France but has good communications to key tourist sites. The property incorporates a large barn and two south-facing terraces. The first floor terrace is equally accessible from outside and inside the house and overlooks fields and woodland. The garden has been well planned around a superb box tree, jasmine, wisteria and fig trees. A library or TV/sitting room, behind the kitchen/lounge on the north side offers a cool and comfy area to relax. The interior has beautifully cleaned oak beams and natural light, with stone and oak floors. It features an elegant staircase and tastefully painted and modern furnished interior. The first floor master bedroom has a bathroom opening onto its own balcony with a stunning view. The rooms at the top of the house are light and spacious, with exposed beams and panoramic views. They have their own attractively tiled Italian shower (with Spanish tiles). A recreation room on the first floor (with electric piano) leads onto the first floor terrace perfect for a quiet breakfast or evening drink, overlooking pasture and forest. Attached to the house is a bread oven. A bergerie is a part of the above mentioned large barn which incorporates downstairs shower and washroom. There is a table tennis board, water volley ball posts and net, etc
Super séjour dans une très jolie maison, les hôtes sont accueillants et bienveillants. La région magnifique. Nous ne pouvons que recommander.
The property is beautiful in a very remote and peaceful location. We stayed for 4 weeks during August and had a good experience. There are many lakes and walks nearby, we also went canoeing and to locals towns to explore. The pool was great entertainment for the kids. The only issue we had was with the insect; mosquitos, wasps, hornets which gathered at the pool or at night as we slept. Francoise was a responsive and helpful host. We recommend this property and it’s host.
Superbe logement familial et fonctionnel. Le cadre est dépaysant et agréable. Dans la région il y a moyen de faire diverses activités sportives. Je recommande cet hôte et son logement !
A beautiful house, garden and pool…we enjoyed it immensely. The pool was a great size and fun for games .Julian and Francoise were always helpful . A great place to explore rural France and some of the most stunning villages I’ve seen in France! I would recommend this gorgeous house and the hosts !
Shops: Despite a rural location the property is only a short drive to convenience shops, petrol, pharmacies and restaurants in medieval Caylus (6 mins). These facilities are located in proximity to one of the most exceptional historic buildings in the Quercy, La Maison des Loups. There is a market on Tuesday and Saturday. Caylus has a Post Office, bank/ATM and Casino supermarket.
Heritage: Fine traditional houses, churches and farm buildings and welcoming villages and choice of excellent value menus £10-15 put city bistros and pubs to shame. The location is just 19 mins on google maps to St Antonin Noble Val, featured in a Helen Mirren comedy (The Hundred-Foot Journey, 2014). It has a very active summer season with a boutique cinema.
Kayaking and caving: From St Antonin a popular and perhaps the most beautiful section of the Aveyron and its gorges can be navigated to Penne Castle (34 mins). The river is embraced by towering white cliffs and overhung by shade trees, made for wild swimming. There are prehistoric caves, recreational lakes and horse riding in the vicinity.
Kayaks and canoes can alternatively be hired at picturesque Najac with a challenging kayak run on the Aveyron River.
Cycling and walking: It goes without saying that walking and bicycling are a pleasure on unencumbered roads and footpaths (grande randonné routes). This is ideal cycling country for children. You will discover lost villages and stone barns, encounter peacefully pastoral scenes with grazing sheep and brown cows, to enjoy with you the cool shade of natural woodlands. Dear are to be seen with an abundance of birds of prey.
Travel access
Toulouse-Blagnac (1 hr 14 mins) is the home of Airbus and a major international airport; Rodez-Aveyron (1hr 8 mins) and Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne (1 hr 21 mins) have more limited international flights and all have car hire facilities.
It is a simple 50 minute drive by motorway (A62/A20) to Caussade, which also has a railway station; there is then just a 20 minute on to Les Espiemonts on almost exclusively straight roads with little traffic.
