Wow! Prior to staying at Mataya’s place, I had been camping/road tripping around BC, Canada for 20 days. This is one of the best camp spots I stayed at throughout my trip. Mataya’s campsites were private and shaded, and I enjoyed the personal touches such as tiki lights and fairy lights to create more of a ‘mood’. I felt very much at home and wish I could have stayed longer!

Good place to camp out for a night. There was a clean porta potty, and campsite was well maintained. The property is close to lots of local attraction, great selling point. The self check-in was easy. The surrounding roads can be a bit loud, so if youre a lite sleeper, bring ear plugs.

Mataya's place was great! It was nice to be near downtown Port Angeles and only about an hour's drive from great hikes in Olympic. She lent us a tent, which was super helpful when managing our travel, and the campsite was in some cute blackberry bushes and fairly private. Mataya was kind and responsive throughout. Sanican was clean :)

I missed the turn to Mataya's place at first and didn't find the correct drive as the evening set, but Mataya was prepared! She immediately called and guided me to the right place when I reached out. As other campers had left early she even offered me to choose my preferred spot. The site was full of hidden treasures like a supply shelf, blackberry bushes, apple trees, and deer friends! The campsites both have private entries and the car camp site in particular has a clear view of the night sky. Had a lovely, slow morning picking blackberries while a baby deer munched on an apple next to me! All with easy access to the Hurricane Ridge entrance of Olympic National Park.
