Recommended in Sawday’s handpicked selection of ‘Special Places to Stay’, this apartment is perfect if you are seeking a show-stopping coastal retreat. We welcome up to three dogs! This truly fabulous apartment sleeps eight guests in comfortable and bright surroundings, with all living areas and three out of the four bedrooms enjoying the fantastic views across Port Gaverne harbour to the Atlantic Ocean beyond. A balcony stretches along the sunny, sea-facing side of the house, where garden furniture and sun loungers can be found for relaxing and watching the sun set over the sea in summer. Upper Tregudda has a spacious and sunny lounge with ample comfy seating and plenty of space for socialising together — complete with a contemporary wood burning stove. Next you have a wonderfully equipped modern kitchen with all you need to cook up a culinary storm, and an elegant separate dining room. Doors open from the master bedroom, dining and living room directly onto the balcony giving the apartment a lovely light and carefree feel. Branching off the carpeted corridor are the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a kingsized bed and lovely contemporary ensuite with shower, hand basin and toilet. There is also a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single with pull-out bed to make an additional twin. All of the bedrooms except the single share the same stunning views as the lounge, and all provide a relaxing and private space away from the activity of the main living areas. A family bathroom completes the accommodation.
Owned by the National Trust, this sheltered cove has a small pebble-and-sand beach with rock pools and caves, as well as cliff walks with magnificent views and a dramatic headland with stunning sunsets. Port Gaverne is just a short stroll from the famous 14th century fishing village of Port Isaac which you may recognise as Portwenn, the setting for the famous TV series ‘Doc Martin’.
The South West Coast path is just opposite the property, and this entire stretch of coast has both Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Heritage Coast status. You can walk east towards legendary Tintagel, or west past Port Isaac and tiny Port Quin cove to Pentire headland, Polzeath and the Camel estuary.
For eating out, the multi award-winning Port Gaverne Restaurant & Hotel is just next door, dating back to the 17th century and specialising in local produce and delicious local ales, or there’s the seasonal Pilchards café right by the beach with plates for sharing, teas and coffees. Alternatively stroll into Port Isaac in a few minutes where you’ll find lots more foodie options.
There is a parking space directly outside the property.
