Cons: when i artived they told me thst they overbooked and placed in a shitty room with a slippery floor not meant for people.i stumbled upon them on the beach enjoying themselves with zero concern about my living arrangements that they messed up. i never received compensation after they said they would.when i got to my suite there was a loud creaking noise all night every night. never once asked how my stay was going. THEY ARE HORRIBLE HOST!! AS A LOCAL NEVER STAYING THERE AGAIN. Pros: the cook ms marilynn was Great and so was the house keeper. the view was nice. wish this was managed by people who cared.

We loved staying here. It was peaceful and the balcony offered wonderful views across the bay with a cool breeze and plenty of shade. Only 20 mins from the airport in Vieux Fort, so a useful stopover place after a long flight. It is off the beaten tourist track so best to have a hire car, but we wanted to explore the less touristy part of the island and birdwatch. We enjoyed the chicken dinner which was pre-arranged with Jenin and also the breakfasts and the tranquil setting. Grateful for the air conditioning in the bedroom and the fridge. Everything was clean and toiletries provided. There are a lot of steps down to the Bwaden Suite, which was challenging with suitcases, and we didn't see our hosts till we were about to leave on the last day, but their staff were kind and helpful. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

I had a great stay at spice bay suites however, if you do stay here, I highly recommend renting a car so that you can go into town where all of the attractions are without having to pay for a taxi, which is very expensive. Otherwise, if you do stay in Micoud, without leaving the village, people are very friendly and helpful, and I found it refreshing to walk through the village to get food at a local recommendation made by Jenin. Also, bring your bug spray because I had to ask for some and thankfully Matthew set me up with a bottle.

I’ll start by saying that this was our first time on the island, and we were celebrating a huge milestone for which we had expectations of access to a more lively scene. I’d say that this stay is best for locals to experience a staycation or older couples who prefer seclusion. You will have to take a taxi or drive everywhere, versus staying on the north of the island with access to buses, shuttles, and lively areas within walking distance. We luckily met a same-aged couple with similar goals of exploration and nightlife who rented a car, so we were able to spend some time with them. Pros: The views from the room and pool top/ lounge area are breathtaking. No pictures do it justice, and every sunset was uniquely beautiful. Breakfast was nice to have, and consisted of local dishes. We felt safe in the stay (for the most part, which I will get to later) as it was on the top of a hill and informally gated. The air conditioner and TV worked fine, with little to no wifi connectivity issues, as we were both able to work from various sections of the room/ apartment. Very cozy and felt like home; definitely for couples, as you’ll be pretty much on top of each other (in a good way). Sited new birds every day, and became regulars with a stray pup that frequented the woods nearby. The water was a consistent pressure, though frequently lukewarm rather than hot. Cons: as the description notes that the hosts can arrange pick up, we were under the impression that it was either gratis or would be charged additionally to the stay through Airbnb (as would a request for dinner). This was not the case, and we needed cash- the only ATM in Micoud is at the airport, so luckily we already had cash on us as we were not told pricing prior to getting in the van. Our initial driver, George, charged $30 USD from the airport back to the stay (after switching our taxi service mid trip, we were told that the standard rate from Micoud to SF was $15 USD; additionally, the latter service charged us $100 USD round trip to Rodney Bay, while George charged us $140 USD to Sulphur Springs, a shorter distance). Though this seems like a minor miscommunication and not the fault of the hosts, the hosts do in fact have a working relationship with George, and we will expound more on this point. Upon first entering the stay, there was no one there to greet us or show us around. A housekeeper pointed us to our room, and the key was already in the door. I guess this makes for easy check-in, but as a first time tourist I truly appreciate being able to connect with people familiar with the area to tell us all that’s available. Matthew did text a few spots after we asked to arrange taxi services again, but we wound up searching places online already. There were a number of ants on the counters when we arrived, and we’d just chalked it up to being in the middle of nature. The ants became increasingly pervasive, however, once we settled our baggage. It seemed like they just kept coming out of nowhere, as we didn’t have any food or attractive parcels that would have invited them. After George told us two different prices for Sulphur Springs ($100, $140), we’d arranged to pay him in full once we were back in the area of the airport’s ATM. Prior to this, we’d given him excess in what we owed, as he sometimes did not have change and we knew we’d just see him again later. I make this point because we’d thought we’d established a trusting rapport. In the middle of the week, we’d called for George to pick us up in Soufrière (10-15 mins from the stay, next to the airport) after arranging the ride with him earlier. He left us stranded, which is when we were made to discover the new taxi shuttle service who informed us of the standard (cheaper) taxi rates for the area. George subsequently ARRIVED AT OUR ROOM to demand the money we owed him the next morning- no call, no warning, and we’d never told him the room we were staying in. I was indisposed at the time and my partner answers the door surprised to find George there. We have him the remaining balance, only to be told a new price that has miscalculated the excess already given. To sum things up, we were very disappointed with the hosts for sharing our location with George without any notice or warning. This occurred in our last few days, however, and we decided not to let it ruin our trip; we stayed the last two nights in Rodney Bay, and had a completely different experience- welcoming host who gave us a tour, and cab services that helped us find cheaper alternatives for covid testing, food and recreation. Suggestions: there is a local shuttle service that is much cheaper than the suggested taxi services, and I would recommend utilizing them or renting (FROM THE AIRPORT SUGGESTED LIST). Be sure to bring an adaptive outlet piece for your devices. Plan to travel a ways for markets and dining. Overall, our stay was peaceful, however for the type of setting and adventures we had in mind it may have benefitted us to stay in the more urban (though not necessarily fully tourist) parts of the island.
