Upstairs lies the open plan living and dining area with huge Smart TV, reverse cycle air-conditioning, hydronic panel heating, extra large couch and a dining table for 10 guests. Well appointed kitchen with modern appliances and a large butlers pantry. Bedroom 1 Master with a queen bed and views. Walk in robe and huge ensuite with double vanities, shower and toilet. Downstairs on entry level is the 2nd living area with digital television, large couch and doors that open to an expansive decking area. Bedroom 2 with a queen bed, sliding glass doors that open out to a private deck. Bedroom 3 with a queen bed, sliding glass doors that open out to a private deck. Bedroom 4 with a tri-bunk and single bed, perfect for the children. Bathroom with bath, shower, vanity and toilet. Separate family bathroom with bath, shower and double vanities. Huge laundry with washing machine, dryer and a separate toilet. Fully fenced and gated back garden, perfect for children to play. Double garage and off street car parking for 2 cars or a boat. The house was overall very nice, with a beautiful back deck, great location, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. But the big blight on our stay was that after we left, the hosts accused us of breaking the oven, which we did not do. We used the oven, which we guess was about 10 years old, one time. We found it was difficult to close the oven door as it did not align with the bracket. We managed to ease it back into place and continue our cooking, and we never at any time used undue force. Our mistake was not to immediately report our finding with the oven. The host is now seeking $540 in oven repairs. We did leave a burn mark on an old saucepan, for which we have reimbursed them $50. Overall we found the hosts challenging to deal with. There were other issues with the house and service. Each of those other issues in isolation were not a big deal, but when all combined, resulted in an experience that was not what we were hoping for.
Blairgowrie is located on a thin strip of the Mornington Peninsula, facing Port Phillip in the north and Bass Strait in the south, nestled between the popular beach resorts of Rye and Sorrento. A compact commercial shopping centre (also a very charming village feel) is situated opposite the bay beach, featuring a supermarket, speciality shops, trendy eateries. Calm and safe sandy beaches front onto Port Phillip which are popular with swimmers and sunbakers. Also fronting Port Phillip is the extensive Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron boat harbour which is a hive of watercraft activity. Spectacular walks and scenery can be enjoyed in the Mornington Peninsula National Park which runs along the rugged Bass Strait coastline.
There are numerous walking tracks along cliff tops, through sand dunes and down to the beaches below. Koonya Ocean Beach, at the end of Hughes Road, is the most easily accessible, with a lookout at the car park providing views down to the rocky outcrop of Pelly Point and inland across Blairgowrie towards the bay beach. Other places of interest along this scenic coastline include Bridgewater Bay at the end of St Johns Wood Road, Pearses Beach and Dimmicks Beach.
Golden sands, wineries, gastronomy, art, fashion, but more importantly solitude and platinum accommodation. The whole of Europe just over an hour outside of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. Blairgowrie is approximately a 1 hour and 25-minute drive (102 kilometres) from CBD Melbourne heading south of Melbourne.
