We stayed here to break up a long drive on the way to Mount Cook.The property is an historic old school with a wonderful living area that is shared and 2 nice bedrooms. Briar was very flexible and friendly and gave superb local recommendations on dining. She and Shaun both showed us their cows and let us feed them apples from their trees. Breakfast was excellent. All the amenities are as advertised. One of our top stays innnew Zealand.

It was a pleasure to stay in this beautifully restored schoolhouse and meeting the warm and super helpful host, Briar. The photos accurately depict the elegantly appointed common areas (two seating areas separated by the dining area) and the compact sleeping room. The bed was very comfortable and the entire place was spotlessly clean. Highly recommend.

Briar and Shauns place felt like a home away from home , cosy , warm and quiet which was ideal to be able to have a good rest after adventuring around . The place was sparkling clean . Breakfast was great. 11/10.

Originally from Tauranga, we both knew we would eventually move to the South Island – it was just a matter of what town and what to do. We initially visited the Mackenzie Country while on holiday in early 2019, and it's fair to say that we instantly fell in love with the region. With its breath-taking views, close-knit communities and endless activities, Mackenzie Country was where we wanted to be. Later in the year, we made the move to Allandale Lodge near Fairlie. The history and character of the lodge had us both in awe from the first time we viewed it. Originally an old schoolhouse built c.1911, it's since been converted into a bed and breakfast where up to 4 guests can stay. Situated in a rural setting, overlooking nearby mountains, Allandale Lodge provides a place to relax and unwind. We welcome you to Allandale Lodge Bed & Breakfast and look forward to sharing our slice of New Zealand's paradise with you during your stay.
