Holiday weekends, 2 night minimum. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. All sanitary precautions are taken and I am triple vaccinated. Masks are optional but I will wear one if you request it. HVAC upstairs is a separate unit so you can control to your own comfort. Alternatively, the windows do open and are screened. Very large ensuite room with desk, and queen bed in beautifully furnished historic home in wonderful Washington, NC. House is from 1908 with cozy porch and river views. The guest room is upstairs and the only bedroom on that floor so privacy and quiet is assured. Water, snacks and coffee maker provided in the guest room. We are located 1 block from the Pamlico River, and 5 blocks from downtown Main Street with its great restaurants and interesting shops. We are in a safe walking neighborhood only 2 blocks from Havens Garden and Backwater Jacks. Guests have use of the sitting rooms, garden, TV, wifi, and parking. I am a faux painter and the house is my palette, and always a work in progress. Downtown Washington not only offers shops and restaurants, but Saturday Farmer's market, frequent waterfront festivals, once a month music in the streets, Estuarium with river roving tours, and nearby kayaking (with rentals). Goose Creek State Park is about 15 minutes away with beaches and nature walks.

We loved our stay at Karen’s place. The home is beautiful, the street is beautiful, and the (~10 minute) walk to town can’t be beat. You can go one way along Main St and enjoy looking at all the beautiful homes, and another way along the boardwalk with fantastic views of the Pamlico River. The room is spacious and has everything you might want. The (private) hall bathroom is lovely and the shower has plenty of hot water and pressure. You are the only people upstairs and is quite a private space. The mattress is on the softer side, so be aware of that if you like a super firm mattress. Even so, I would still recommend you stay here! On a personal note, we enjoyed a lovely evening sitting on the front porch and sharing a little wine with Karen. She has lived in quite a few different places in the world and is quite interesting to talk to. We were the ones who indicated a willingness to engage in conversation - if you prefer solitude, that will be easy to attain. Highly recommend.
This was my second time staying at Karen's and it was wonderful! Karen is so kind and helpful. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Nice, quiet neighborhood, but close to local restaurants and area attractions. Check out the North Carolina Estuarium in Washington and Goose Creek State Park, 12 miles down the road outside Washington. The Estuarium was fascinating and close to some great restaurants. I had lunch afterwards at the new Water Street Cafe, which was fantastic. The state park has trails along the Pamlico River and trails going through beautiful forests with Spanish moss hanging from the trees. Highly recommend staying at Karen's and seeing these sights in Washington!

Karen and her husband are charming hosts and their beautiful house is like an upscale bed and breakfast. I would definitely stay again.
This place and the host truly meet the description of exceptional. Just one caveat for those of us less spry - those steps are as steep as they appear in the photo.

I love being 5 blocks from Main Street and the waterfront. There is a very pleasant parkway along the river and a boardwalk which ends up in the beautiful historic area. There are many restaurants and art/antiques shops downtown. Our neighbor hood is quiet and safe, and very walkable.
No public transport, but easy walking, driving, parking. Bikes, electric scooters, golf cart and kayak rentals are 2 blocks away. Kayak and paddle board launch also 2 blocks.

I have lived in Europe for many years but have been in Eastern NC since opening a B&B in 1996. I love my house and do all the work myself. I also do a lot of painting, sewing and yoga.
