The location is lovely. It's furnished very nicely and the beds are so comfortable. There was plenty of room for the 4 us. There is great light that comes in from the windows and if it was warmer we would have enjoyed the outdoors too. It's perfectly located near grocery stores, shopping, and entertainment. And it's 20 minutes from the airport, which is great. The management and the manager, Makai, however, is a different issue. All of the white towels had stains from maybe an old hair dye job. The towels were clean but you can see the faded stains. I was surprised to see they were not replaced. And one of the towels had a hole. When I mentioned this to Makai, which is the son of the owner, he did not reply. The can openers did not work and when I mentioned this to Makai, he said he'd replace it but didn't. There was only one toilet roll so we asked for more, it was replaced while we were gone, but they were put on the floor near the door instead of on the table. The cutting boards were also dirty. Bring paper towels because they don't provide that either. Shortly after we arrived the key fell off my ring and I stupidly lost it. We looked for it for hours and could not find it. After waiting a while to hear from Makai he said he could not bring us a new key till the morning. He did offer to put us in another unit over night and charged us $130 for the cleaning fee. We didn't know the area well and have heard that it could be sketchy so we decided to take him up on his offer. The unit he put us in was very comfortable and we were happy to have a place to rest. He said he'd bring the key in the morning, but it was early afternoon and we still did not have a key and we had plans so we left and found the key in the lock box when we returned later in the day. We were very grateful and thanked him profusely. The following morning the hot water was not working. After going back and forth with Makai he decided to call someone to check on it. Meanwhile we needed to shower so I asked if we could use the same unit we had used the previous day. I had to ask several times before he responded and gave us access. Later we found out that the water heater needed to be replaced but it couldn't happen till the next day. These things happen. No problem. We had to use the other unit the following day to take a shower. We were glad he had an empty unit. The unit was right next door so it wasn't a hassle. Since we had to use the other unit because of the water issue I asked Makai if he would consider returning the $130 cleaning fee he charged us for using it when I lost the key since he would have had to clean it anyway. He did not reply. I had to ask three times before he said the owner would issue a refund if we followed the departure instructions and there was no excessive clean up. We left the place spotless, removed all of the garbage and put them in the outdoor bin. folded the towels and left them on the floor as instructed, wiped down all of the counters, put away all of the dishes, and made the beds. After several emails to Makai without a response I am still waiting for the refund. Like I said the condo is lovely, but the management could use some work.

I recently stayed at makais air bnb for a fire academy in Del Rey ! The place was really comfy and felt like home. Makai was great ! And also quick to respond to any questions that you may have. I would totally rebook this place again ! Thank you makai!
