It was a real treat to spent some time at this stunning house. Peg and max were incredible hospitable and delightful hosts. We had dinner at their house the first night Max is a great chef. Simple delicious food. The location is just spectacular. Great to only be able to come to the house by boat/panga or walk through the jungle. But….it feels like they have lost the battle with the climate. You can see what it must have been like . Beautiful collected pieces of furniture. Amazing railings and fittings but lots of it is falling apart. I must say that the recent hurricane they had did not help and that we gave them 2 days notice that we were coming did not help either. For the price we paid I was expecting more. It needs to be clean. I don’t mind bugs. They are in the jungle after all. The place needs candles, music and life and to achieve that you need energy and TLC.
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay with Peg and Alan! We really enjoyed the meals Max created, and our dinners with Peg and Alan. I think you should love dogs, as we do, and also like to be off the beaten path. The most unique aspect of staying here is that, besides Peg and Alan's place, there is no other place to spend the night at Los Colomitas Beach. You are really paying a premium for supply and demand. One place to stay on a gorgeous beach is going to cost more money than other places, and for us, this experience was worth it!
Peg and her family were gracious hosts. So helpful and friendly. The cove is private and can be a challenge to get in and out of. But peg helped every step of the way. The casita has a lot of steps, but worth the hike. Everything was so blissful. Her son Max cooked amazing meals. If u are looking for a private getaway off the beaten path, this is the stay for you. Don’t expect to get to PV or anywhere else fast. You need to get a boat. But the small beach cove is perfect for anyone who wants a special intimate stay. 10/10 recommend. Bring good shoes there are a lot of steps, but it’s a small price to pay for a magical beach getaway.
We had an interesting stay at Peg’s place. There were pros and cons to her stay, and like the recent reviews said before, overall it is not worth the money paid for the experience. Pros: the location and view are beautiful, Peg is prompt for communication, and her 3 dogs are sweet. Cons: this is more of a glamping experience than anything else, and for the money, did not seem worth it to us. The casita is dirty, there are bugs in the house, and there are stains on almost all of the linens and blankets. Two of the main homeowners are smokers, so just know that going in. There is also a new beach bar below that plays loud music from about 10am-6pm. They have 3 cute dogs but you must be a dog person, because they are on all of the communal chairs and spaces. The photos are a bit outdated as everything is very worn. Overall: beautiful view, but the price paid was absolutely not worth what you get.
First of all I would like to say that I loved Peg and her family. They are a genuine treat to spend time with and the kind of people that once met you Cant imagine not knowing them. The location of their home is truly breathtaking - it is a quite literal paradise. It was truly one of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful spots. Their house is a real jewel of architecture too. Peg was infinitely helpful and I cannot fault the effort she made to make sure we knew where to go and had what we needed. Max is a really terrific cook. I would say that my fondness for Peg made it hard to address the things that didn’t work for us. The casita is really charming but the price didn’t reflect the standard that we would expect for this much money per night. Things were a little shabby and a little dirty. There was a diy element to our stay which I would take no issue with for a lower nightly fee, but as one of the most expensive places we’ve stayed in - it felt a little meh.
We are the ONLY accommodation located on famous Los Colomitos beach right next door to the Ocean Grill restaurant (also only accessible by boat) on the hiking trail from Boca to Las Animas. There are other fun beachside restaurants a short hike or panga ride away.
At Villa Maroc, your hosts are avid outdoorsmen (and women) and we will be delighted to share with you all the wonderful (sometimes hidden) adventures at your fingertips; hiking, hidden beaches, whale watching, bird life, snorkelling, fishing or a trip to the nearby world-famous Botanical Gardens.
