We appreciated this cottage as a great home base while my father and I explored Fredericksburg and the Pacific War Museum. It was very homey and the backyard is large and full of fun games. The snacks and drinks were a nice welcome and our communication with the host was quick and pleasant!

Pros: responsive and very nice host, easy check-in/check-out, quiet neighborhood, lots of extras like snacks, wine (I totally needed that after traveling with my two kids lol), movies, games, massage chair, clean hot tub, fresh eggs. Cons: pictures did not match the location (in comparison, the pics must have had a filter), some dirty dishes/utensils. I realize that’s up to the previous guests to take care of, but may need to be checked by host. Cluttered cabinets with a varied collection of stuff. Lots of used and half empty soaps, body washes, shampoos, etc. Old house smell - I get it, I grew up in one but didn’t expect to encounter it in a rental, found foreign hair in the bathtub and on a towel I used from the bathroom cabinet. Back porch was pretty messy/unorganized. Alarm clocks were set for early a.m. probably by previous guest, but they woke all of us up after a rough night. I didn’t think to check if they were on, so that’s on me.
