We came away with mixed feelings about our overnight stay at the Munia Homestay. We were two families - 5 adults and 4 kids, so we had the entire place to ourselves. As our visit was on the eve of holi, we had to pay a premium. It’s a lovely home and the spaces are large, well appointed, clean and well maintained. The terrace and the garden are beautiful. The host also graciously allowed us to use the kitchen to prepare my kids’ meals as they have specific dietary requirements. The kitchen is otherwise not accessible, only the pantry is. We were given complimentary cups of tea. We didn’t get to meet the host, but only interacted with the caretaker and the contact person (over phone). The overall experience would have been more memorable if the caretaker was better trained in hospitality to make guests feel welcome and the contact person was more responsive. But overall, a peaceful place to relax and unwind.

Beautifully made plush place to stay, with extremely well maintained garden on 3 sides. One bedroom is in the ground floor and two on the second floor. They have a huge balcony that can be used to party. Expect a comfortable stay. Finding this place on your own could be a problem. Take the help of the caretaker to reach/locate this place. They have a functional kitchen which can be used to cook your own. Tea and coffee is on the house. The food is ok to survive. For better fooding experience you may have to travel and explore something else. The nearest Taxi stand or the rickshaw stand is Prantik station, it's at least 10-15 mins walk through a kacha-puckka road.

Sarajit’s place is nice, but it’s in the middle of nowhere, close to the railway station, but far if you want to step out for dinner in the evening. He offers meals, which we purchased thinking they were made on the premises, but they are made in a central kitchen somewhere else and arrive rather lukewarm and a poor value (pricey for what you get).

Overall our stay at Munia Bungalow was good. The place is very well maintained, the rooms are very clean. At the same time I would suggest to be more transparent and consistent with rates and description. Things like kitchen charges are not mentioned even on the website and I find no logic in keeping that hidden. Check out and check in times mentioned on Airbnb and website were different before I pointed out. Host could put in a bit more effort to accommodate requests from the guests especially if those are not grossly unreasonable. Regarding food: breakfast tasted nice, but to be honest we were expecting home cooked breakfast rather than Puri Sabji bought from local sweet shop. Same for lunch and dinner...the description was of home cooked meal; I didnt understand what was meant by that as we were served food delivered from local eateries. I am not trying to be complaining though, I am just being honest. I liked the comfort and grandeur of the place and would recommend to travellers who are looking for an artistic and tasteful property.
